We really enjoyed our stay, beautiful pool area and cabin. Interesting excursions. Food was pretty good. A long journey to get here with boats that would occasionally breakdown which was slightly stressful! But it was worth it. Weather was very mixed even though it was the dry season so prepare for heavy rain

It was really great to stay at Pachira Lodge - we had a nice big room and the food and service were excellent. we stayed there for 3 days and had a very nice guide Julio - saw the whole area - have seen loads of birds and other animals - lovely stay ! If you like nature but also appreciate a nice shower and a clean bed, it's really a great place. would certainly go back if we have the chance

Great place to stay, comfortable lodges & good food. Our guide Julio was excellent, very knowledgeable on local bird life & animals. Took us for an extra tour in the evening to see red eyed frog, sloth & other night creatures. Highly recommend

We stayed here as part of the Tui Grand Tour. This is a hard review for me to write as when I started with TripAdvisor I promised never to do a negative review so I am writing this with caution and sadness. I have given this hotel 1 star and that is for the pool/bar area and nature walk. Our room was not ready on arrival so we were directed to lunch. The food was served buffet style and quite frankly was poor. Over cooked, insipid and uninspired. We were one of the last groups to lunch and I saw the staff putting chicken from the buffet into food bags to presumably be used later. My advice for dinner is to jump into one of the water taxis and head to Tortuguero to eat. There are many bars and restaurants to choose from in the village. Budda Cafe is very good. 17 of us out of a tour of 21 opted to do this. Now for the rooms. Our room was dark, dingy and dirty. The bathroom was dated, poorly maintained and we did not even have a sink plug. There is no soundproofing between rooms and open gaps in the eaves between rooms. My advice is to try and upgrade to one of the stand alone lodges. Please try to do this before you go as reception will not even try to help and they are limited in number. You need to wear mosquito repellent even in the rooms as the windows have no glass only mosquito mesh which does not work. I was bitten many times in the room in places I could only have been bitten whilst undressed. Quite frankly this is the worst place I have stayed in for 20 plus years. On a positive Tortuguero is one of the most special places I have ever been and cannot wait to return. We will not however stay here. We did not let the hotel spoil our trip here as there is much to see and do. We simply tried to spend our time out with this resort and loved our time in Tortuguero.

Getting off a bus after 4 hours of being joggled on poor roads we arrive at Cano Blanco for a boat ride which lasted for about an hour. Arriving, we are greeted with a drink and shown to our rooms. They are large and comfortable with only a ceiling fan, set on one fast speed only. A bit of a problem that could not be fixed as the fan controls are about 3.5 metres above the floor, difficult to access. Nights tend to be cool so not a huge problem. Each day there are excursions into the jungle, river, around the hotel designed walkways and on the beach where turtles hatch. Very knowledgeable guides and quite a lot of animals around. Food was plentiful but not very exciting. With at least 3 courses each night. They have a tremendous spa with great massage, certainly something to be tried. All staff are very helpful, with lots of activities including a beautiful pool and bar service.
