Booked direct with Mawamba for a 3 nights package - however most people seemed to be on a 2 night arrangement. Price paid included transport from our San Jose Airport Hotel and return (transport time 6+ hours, but worked well and on time), meals on both outward and return trips, 3 meals per day at Mawamba Lodge, 2 wildlife boat...

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights and spent two days exploring the area around the lodge by boat and on foot. We saw sloths, lizards, butterflies, monkey's, caimans, and countless beautiful birds of all different colours. The lodge is a little dated, but has a lovely pool and served very nice buffet meals. The area is quiet and...

Quite a long journey to get here by coach and boat. About 7 hours from our previous location. Very nice friendly greeting and best checking in anywhere. Quiet unique. Cabins are fine but NO a/c. Just a large fan that really was not effective enough during the day but was OK during the night. Showers OK and good sized towels....

This place was the start of our holiday, and what an amazing place to start our adventure in Costa Rica. We checked into our lovely cabins and as we started to explore the grounds, we were welcomed by a selection of enormous Iguanas just wandering around the grounds. They were happy to pose for photos and not at all concerned...

First trip to Costa Rica and I wanted it to be a taste of coast to coast. I booked all of our lodging on line from different sources. First stop after a day to compose in San Jose was the Mawamba Lodge in Tortuguero. Found it after various searches and reading reviews and booked directly through them for the two...

Stayed here for two nights and the location is excellent. Arrival by boat makes for an exciting visit , though of course you soon realise you can only arrive by boat. The rooms are basic and the lighting in them dingy, and there are no mod cons - no phone, fridge tv etc - but you are in a rainforest...

We stayed at Mawamba Lodge for three nights at the start of our 2 week holiday to Costa Rica, and it was the highlight of our trip. The journey to the Lodge was very interesting with a 1h 15m trip by boat along the river and canal. The Lodge was exceptional with very clean rooms with a cooling fan, balcony...

Wonderful lodge style bungalows complete with hammocks on the front verandah. Trips by boat to seek out wild life. A very different approach and very eco friendly. It is possible to fly in, but almost everyone has to enter by boat on very interesting waterways. It has a nice swimming pool, shop, restaurant and cafe. Within the grounds is a...
