This resort was absolutely amazing. From the gorgeous rooms, to the amazing property, to the extremely friendly staff and the fabulous food, my family and I had the time of our lives! Additionally, the excursions and guides provided were top notch. Tortuguero is a must see when visiting Costa Rica, and this hotel and their world class staff are simply... More

How do I start? When we first arrived following a 1 hour boat journey (which is one of the 2 ways to arrive) we was greeted at the hotel by a line of staff; the receptionist, a porter and a waiter holding a tray with 6 drinks ready for us (melon juice which was absolutely divine). By the time we... More

We spent two nights here and should have spent more. We traveled all over Costa Rica and this was our favorite. The lodge was remote, but perfect to get the real feel of Costa Rica. It was so comfortable and we were treated like royalty. It was definitely "old school" hospitality. Our every need was met almost before we knew... More

Dear Denise G, Your reference to "old school" hospitality made me smile. It's true that it's hard to come by the kind of service that anticipates guests needs. We work hard at getting better and better at doing this. When we talk to staff about service we tell them that excellent service isn't enough, our goal is to give Legendary... More

Service is top notch!! The minute you get off the boat or plane , you are a VIP guest. The grounds are beautiful and the nature guides are amazing. Norton took us into the jungles and showed us so many different varieties of birds, monkeys and an up close encounter with a Cayman. Food is incredible and they even arranged... More

Dear divegal8, WOW, it's great to hear that we were overall your families favorite location during your Costa Rica trip. It sounds like you were a perfect fit for the lodge. You're right to say to people reading this that they need to be prepared for constant up close encounters with the wildlife! If you're not a critter person, being... More

We spent 3 nights at the Tortuga Lodge & Gardens and had a fantastic time. Accommodation is rustic but comfortable. Upstairs rooms are a good call; more of a view, catch more of a breeze and somewhat more private. The construction of the accommodation means that unless curtains are closed it is very easy to see into rooms as you... More

Dear Mathewv, Your recommendation to bring binoculars is super important. We encourage guests to bring at least one pair, Binoculars 8x42 recommended, 7x32 minimum, getting a closer look at wildlife is really rewarding. It's also true that going on a turtle nesting tour can be challenging for children. It depends a lot on their age and their activity level. The... More

Our family of 5 is nearing our 2-week trip in Costa Rica. We can say that Tortuga Lodge and all its offerings was our favorite. This is our first experience with jungle accommodations and will be what we compare future experiences to. Excellent accommodations --clean, comfortable, airy screens combined with fans, riverfront view, swimming pool. Delicious food and presentation. Knowledgeable... More

This place is a wonderful lodge with an emphasis on enjoying the natural habitat of its remote location. The rooms are elegant and simple. There is no air conditioning (it is not needed!) or television. The staff are exceptional. There is a beautiful infinity pool and plenty of nature to explore. A must do is the hammocks. WiFi is the... More

From the moment my family and I arrived at the hotel, the experience was as close to magical as you can get. A toucan perched on a palm tree just above the boat dock. A huge tiger heron rested at the end of the dock near a couple of boats. The morning was heavy with humidity and the jungle was... More

My wife and came with our 16 and 19 year old kids. We were blown away by the water, the local beauty and the beautiful grounds. All of the staff were super friendly and attentive. The finest staff conducted the tours and the restaurant staff was decent. Very nice pool and good food. Costlier than Puerto Viejo but well worth... More

Iguanas roaming the grounds, howler monkies in the trees, and macaws flying overhead -- this gorgeous getaway had a friendly staff, two hammock rooms, and their own night time jungle tours (for green-eyed tree frogs, poison dart frogs). We enjoyed tropical drinks poolside, took tours of Tortuguero park.
