I went there with my wife and 9 months old daughter. We booked the 4 days 3 nights package, flew in from San Jose and took the boat and taxi to arenal afterwards. First, I have to say that this truly was the highlight of our trip through costa rica so far. One reason surely was

This place was so perfect in every way. The food and cocktails were to die for. The service was superb, the infinity pool was relaxing and breathtaking. The location was about an hour water taxi from land. The lodge sits on the side of the river. They offer a water taxi to the

Dear Alicia J Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review and granting us your recommendation Since you enjoyed your stay at Tortuga Lodge so much, we would like to recommend for your next visit to Costa Rica our sister property Monteverde Lodge & Gardens (also featured here on Trip Advisor), a “rustic elegant” experience where you’ll be welcomed with the same level of personalized service and exceptional food that you enjoyed in Tortuguero, but in the Cloud Forest this time. Whether in the rain forest or the cloud forest, our staff will make their best effort to provide you with the attention you deserve during your vacation time. Vacation Time is Precious! Many agents suggest 2 nights, we think 3 is better. Otherwise by the time you have picked up the vibe it is time to move on. A trip around the 'gardens' is a wildlife experience. We loved our guided night walk, including loads of spectacular frogs, the cutest mexican possum and

We stayed here for four nights during early January 2019. It is in a beautiful location on the banks of the Tortuguero Lagoon just across from the airstrip (you can’t see it from the hotel and it makes getting there and leaving very easy). We arrived by boat and left by plane.

Everything was perfect in this place; rooms, pool, tours, food you name it! We really enjoyed our (far too short) stay here and if we ever come back we will gladly stay at this place again. We booked two excellent tours at the hotel (one day tour and one evening tour) and were

Hello, I'm so glad you asked! Tortuga Lodge is located on the north east coast of Costa Rica, 47.5 KM or 29.5 miles from the Nicaraguan border, as the crow flies. The Lodge sits on the river bank directly across from an airstrip. It is 1 mile from the mouth of the Tortuguero River and about a ten-minute boat ride from the town. You cannot drive to Tortuguero because there are no roads; the only way to get there is by a combination of driving to the dock of La Pavona and then a boat from La Pavona to Tortuguero. I suggest that you contact us directly so that we can give you more precise driving instructions and the schedule for our boat which leaves the dock daily at 11am and requires a previous reservation or Public Boats which are available throughout the day. My recommendation is that you don't play it by ear. It's best to call or write us so that we can explain exactly what you need to do. Cheers!

Hi Lori... Our vacation was in March ... It was very hot and it wasn't the rainy season... So can't say anything about the temperature in July... The amazing thing at this lodge is: You stay in the nature... You stay with all the animals around... If you have air conditioning... Then you will not notice anything of this great nature... The is a fan at the ceiling which provide a beautiful breeze in the room

We offer a complete package that includes round trip transportation to/from Tortuguero. We are happy to pick you up in Puerto Viejo and drop you off in San Jose. Before we can answer your question regarding luggage, we would need to know how much luggage you plan to bring. It's one answer if you are bringing an additional 20lbs and another if you're bringing an additional 60lbs. If you write us directly it should be easy to sort out.
