Absolutely amazing hotel with superb service. This was our first stop on our coast to coast trip across Costa Rica and it was a great intro. Food and service were 6+ Stars and the room was excellent. There is a great trail system behind the hotel that you can wander throughout the day to find monkeys, tree frogs, and dart frogs, and if you're not into walking the pool has great cocktail service.

Tortuaga Lodge is a special place! It is surrounded by rain forest and you have to get there by boat. We took advantage of the tours that were offered and our quides were very knowledgable about the area and the wildlife within it. The food was excellent and staff was the best! We will be back!

You know you’ve found a good place when your 14 year old says they want to “stay for a month” and is asking when you can go back! We had a basic river view room and loved relaxing in the hammock with the beautiful view of the river, and waking up to the sounds of howler monkeys and toucans. The food and drinks were amazing, and we were happy having all of our meals here. The staff was top notch, especially our guide Luis and our waiter Joseph. You have the same guide and wait staff during your stay, and we felt like we were saying goodbye to family when we left. The boat ride in and out and the morning nature boat tour were amazing “jungle cruises” filled with sightings of howler and spider monkeys, toucans, herons, great green macaws, caimans, and many others. We also loved the sea turtle nesting and hatching tours. Be sure to leave some “down time” to enjoy the lodge and the grounds, and a little time to walk around the village of Tortuguero. We stayed 2 nights, which is perfect to see all the highlights. We hope to go back for 3 nights, and have a little more time to enjoy the lodge.

Thank you for your wonderful review of your stay, enjoyment of meals and drinks at Tortuga Lodge! We are the perfect base to explore the lush flora and fauna of Costa Rica's northern Caribbean, specially the turtle nesting and hatching tours! The ride in and out are also the perfect time to enjoy the sights of wildlife. And as you mention, you don't have to walk far, our gardens are brimming with natural inhabitants of the region. If you wish to visit us in the future, aside from Tortuga Lodge, consider any of our 3 sister lodges: Pacuare Lodge, Lapa Rios Lodge and Monteverde Lodge & Gardens, all located in unique natural destinations. We are sure your 14 year old will love them too!

We spent 3 wonderful days with very nice excursions and lots of nature. The tours were perfectly organized (thanks Zulay) and executed (thanks Juan). Depending on the weather (we were there in the rainy season), the tours were even spontaneously postponed so that we can see more animals. In every respect a good choice!

This place is like being on a epic Disney adventure, except with excellent food and reliable Wi-Fi. From the boat ride to the resort to the toucans outside of our room, this place offered a once in a lifetime experience that we will come back to. Say yes to all of the excursions, especially if they involve sea turtles. Shout out to Juan, who showed the unbelievable sights of nesting sea turtles while also giving us an equally epic early morning boat tour through the national park. Genive and the rest of the restaurant team made us feel welcome and well fed. The food here is delicious and reasonably priced. If your looking for a boring Hampton Inn this is not your place. If you’re looking to be in the heart of Costa Rica, and truly on a adventure vacation come visit Tortuga Lodge! This would be an amazing place with kids and couples alike.
