I was surprised at the comfort and laid back life at Tortuga Lodge. I was expecting it to be a bit more rustic. Even though there is no air conditioning, we did have a ceiling fan and a floor fan to keep us cool. That is big for someone from Texas who is used to air conditioning all summer long.... More

Excellent Choice, for a Hotel in Tortuguero, even though the rooms are very simple-looking inside there are nice, comfy and spacious with nice details. Also the grounds of the hotel are very nice and well-arranged. The Costumer Service its excellent!! And to top it all up.. Gourmet Meal at their Restaurant!

We have great memories of our stay at Tortugua Lodge and Garden and would highly recommend it! The employees at the lodge really took extra good care of us and everybody seemed to take great pride in their job and making us happy. Everyone was very attentive and exceptional. We stayed here for 3 nights on 18-21st September. Great hotel with really friendly and helpful staff. We had an upstairs room with a view over the gardens and river. You literally feel like you are staying in the jungle as you can hear all sorts of birds and animals around you and through the night. Restaurant serves very nice... More

Tortuga Lodge is a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. It has spectacular views to the river, while relaxing or having a drink at the pool. Very quiet and the staff is very friendly. The hotel provides everything you need for your comfort, including tea and coffee, to boots for exploring the nature. The food is also brilliant and... More

My 9 year old daughter Isabel and I just returned from a fantastic stay at Tortuga lodge. Everything was exceptional! We went on rainforest nature trips, a night walk to see turtles coming on the beach to lay eggs, and so much wildlife in this very unspoiled part of Costa Rica. The trip to get to Tortuguero was one of... More

Hotel as expected from Trip Advisor reports. Clean and tidy. Food good. Staff - Reasonably efficient, but rather sullen to guests. Manuel our waiter and our cleaning lady seem to be the only ones to have a smile. Word of warning - Watch out after it has rained on the tiles. I slipped and mentioned this to a staff member... Dear Clairenrenwick, Thank you so much for your review, I am very sorry that you found the staff to be "sullen". I was just at the lodge for 2 nights myself, as an explanation, not an excuse, what I noticed is that they may be a little tired. This is something that we have to watch out for, the lodge... More

OMG The flight from San Jose was awesome and just landing on this tiny airstrip along the beach was cool. Room was awesome, canal tours amazing - our guide could see the most amazing things right away and used a laser pointer to help us locate them. Birds, birds, crocodiles, it was so cool to be on a boat going... More

Dear Amy M, WOW, I'm impressed that you remember your stay so vividly after traveling in September of 2009. The lodge today is just like you described, we still have wonderful Naturalist Guides, lots of birds and especially toucans in the gardens. We still see eye lasher vipers in the park and we will have crocs that sunbathe on the... More

Wish we could have stayed longer. From arriving by tiny plane Natureair to leaving by boat we had a thoroughly wonderful time. We did a boat tour and spotted lots of animals.... More

This was our favorite place in Costa Rica. The setting was lovely and low key and the staff was so friendly. We had a perfect balance of activities in nature and sitting in hammocks.
