Our family of four stayed three nights here in two rooms. The rooms were clean, comfortable , had a fridge , coffee maker and safe ( that we managed to jam - be careful not to shut charger cables in the door! ). We made good use of the swimming pool, very clean and cool, but deep! I am 5ft... More

We liked our stay at Don Quichotte. The place is clean and as we stayed during the lowest season, we were the only guests. We didn't meet Gilles, but his staffmember helped us as much as he could. He didn't speak English but arranged a meeting with tourguide Rafa who speaks pretty good English. Rafa was the highlight of our... More

We loved our stay at Don Quichotte. We rented 2 rooms for 5. The hotel matches the charm of the village. Gilles arranged Bonnie to meet us at the dock and walked us to the hotel. The hotel pool is great. Gilles is easy going and provided drinks in the refrigerator that you could pay for at reasonable price or... More

We totally enjoyed our stay here. It is nice and close to walk to everything in town, but very quiet. The rooms are great and the pool is lovely. Our host Gilles sent Rafa to meet us, and he was our guide for the tours of the canals and the midnight turtle watching adventure. He was such a wonderful person... More

Stayed in the family room which was huge! 3 beds, coffee maker and fridge, separate bathroom and toilet and fans. Lovely patio area with hammocks, table and chairs. The pool was a god-send and I believe it is the only one outside of the super pricey and exclusive lodges. Nice location in the village away from the main road and... More

This is the only budget stay with a pool - so if you've decided against the resorts - Gilles is your man. One terrific surprise is that you are picked up by the boats by Bonny who tells you about the village and takes you to Don Quichotte! Great service! The place is VERY clean - but the outside is... We stayed for 3 nights in this place. Rooms (only 4) are clean and there's a nice swimmingpool. The beds vary per room (both mattresses and pillows) The first night we stayed in the big room (1 double, 2 single beds) but the next day we had to move to a much smaller room because they made a double reservation... With no hotels in Tortuguero the choice lies between upmarket lodges and B&B's/Inns/ Calling Don Quichotte is the only misnomer. With only 4 rooms it is however a real bonus to offer guests a 10 metre pool with a more than adequate depth for swimming. It is I think the only property in the village with a pool, with rip... If you want to avoid the all-inclusive lodges, this place is a good alternative. Simple room + bathroom, hammock, pool, close to the ocean, inexpensive. Couple notes - the owner speaks okay english, not great but you can get by. If you arrive by plane, there are no water taxis available so you want to try and plan to have... More
