Right by the beach, with hammocks and a neighbouring hostel's pool to use. Great as it is so hot at the moment. Rooms are a good size and clean with powerful fan. We found ours a little musty and stuffy. Staff were friendly and helpful. PS the best place to eat in this little town of you are looking for...

We stayed upstairs and got a large room with 2 fans. The beds were comfy and the shower had got water (not really needed!) What would make this place great is a communal kitchen. It has a nice area of hammocks at the front, but the communal area doesn't really get people to mingle. Staff are helpful although we used...

Good location. Breakfast options are.limited and not included in booking price. Welcoming staff, very clean rooms but bathroom area is like a sauna, no ventilation. Hotel leads directly on to the beach but there is no swimming allowed but you do have use of a neighbouring pool.

stayed here for three nights - got a bigger family room on the upper floor for the two of us and it was quite comfortable. the rooms on the bottom don't even have windows, I wouldn't be happy there, but the room we had was spacious and with two windows, so that worked out quite well. the hotel itself is...

We had a great time in Tortuguero, and El Icaco was excellent! We asked the hotel to provide transport from the airport, and on arrival we were met by a boatman who took us to the main dock in town. There we were met by Adolfo who helped carry our bags to the hotel. The rooms are basic, but super...

It's chilled out spot at the beach. Swing in your hammock, take dip in the Caribbean Sea, and take a cold one from the fridge. The rooms are spacious, be prepared to get close to nature as it is a bit buggy. There is no air conditioning, so the room get pretty hot but there is a fan to provide...

We were met at the boat landing by a clerk with our names written on a whiteboard. He told us to follow him to the hostel, and we started walking through the town, down a back alley, across a soccer field, and eventually made our way to the hostel. It is maybe a 5 min walk out of town. The...

We had a great time in El Icaco. It was a basic place, with clean rooms en nice staff. The owner was helpfull and very kind. There were nice hammocks and view on the beach. What you get for the price is reasonable. Breakfast is not included. We stayed two nights in El Icaco, which was enough.

If you're looking to spend your time on a hammock, taking in the sound of the waves and ocean breeze, this is the place to stay at in Tortuguero. The value is great at Cabinas El Icaco, the room was ok, but why would you want to stay in the room when in Tortuguero. Would definitely recommend!

Excellent location on the beach, friendly/helpful staff (don't speak much english however). Rooms/ensuite basic but clean. Wifi and hammocks were good. We had breakfast here one morning and it was basic but done well (Coffee, toast, scrambled egg, butter, marmalade and plate of fresh watermelon and pineapple).
