We just left there after two days. The first night there was a terrible rainstorm, and the roof leaked on my husbands side of a king bed. It left a weird yellow stain on the bed. The hotel staff accused him of soiling the bed, and demanded $76US for a new bottom sheet. The sheets were old and pilled. We have stayed around the world, and never have we been so disappointed in a hotel’s staff. My husband said he didn’t soil the bed, let’s spilt the cost, she said no she would have to talk to her manager. My husband dropped a $50 and left.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst on a Jules Verne tour of Costa Rica. Journey to hotel is by a 1 hour boat ride and once you arrive, everything is so relaxed. Bedrooms are a good size, but no fridge to keep water cool. Swimming pool with pool towels supplied. Food was good but not a huge choice available if you are on a group tour. There are a couple of restaurants for independent travellers, so maybe their choices are better. Whilst we were there, we toured the waterways and saw lots of different birds. There are lots of monkeys in hotel grounds but they are no problem at all, lovely to watch them play.

Went here on a Globus tour. Loved the setting and surrounding jungle. River cruises were amazing! Very unique accommodations. Good food. Wonderful staff. Best pina coladas at poolside bar. Keep an eye on the thieving monkeys. Enjoy!

Incredible place with amazing wildlife all around you. Great tours with very knowledgeable guides but also plenty to see in the lodge grounds. We slept well without aircon ( warm during day but grateful for extra blanket at night) and the pool is great. Food is canteen style and not always well organised (queues at breakfast for cooked food). But you don’t go here for a luxury experience. We stayed 3 days, got offered an extra boat tour with no charge as they had capacity, and took a water taxi to Tortuguero hill as a walk on our own which was easy, not expensive, and a really interesting thing to do as you get a great view from the top of the Caribbean coast and the rainforest from above. Some heavy rain during our stay and could be noisy at night but you are in the rainforest!

We spent 2 nights at Evergreen Lodge as part of a tour around Costa Rica. The location is fantastic - right on the canal and in the rainforest. The tours we had from there (boat tour, hill hike, village tour) were all amazing, and our guides Ronny and Luis were great. We learned so much and saw so much wildlife (water birds, lizards, monkeys, etc) on each. Just be prepared to be very hot and very wet! In our spare time, we wondered around the trails in the lodge to find more wildlife hopping around, but there was also a pool and bar for relaxing if needed. We were fed 3 times a day with buffets of fresh Costa Rican food, which was delicious, and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Just to be warned, the lodges are very basic, but still comfy. We were a bit surprised that there were ‘windows’ along both sides that were just mosquito netting with curtains you could pull across, so didn’t feel super private and wasn’t very soundproof from the rain/sounds of the forest/other people. We also had a few problems with the toilet but the staff were great and came to fix it.

A great place to stay while visiting Tortuguero. Evergreen Lodge is in a good location just a very short boat ride from the main village. The property is well maintained and well managed. The staff were all very helpful and attentive. The kitchen and waiting staff in particular were very well organised and efficient. Food is served buffet style in a single sitting. It was good quality and freshly cooked but selection is slightly limited. Accommodation was in a cabin in the forest which was basic but clean and comfy. As mentioned by many other reviewers, the cabin windows don’t have glass, just an insect-proof mesh, so you really experience all the sounds of the forest (and your neighbours). We were woken by monkeys rustling in the trees and also by a nearby tree which makes a very loud popping noise (sounds like a small explosion) when it scatters its seeds. It was an amazing experience to spend a couple of nights with the forest noises. All in all Evergreen Lodge is highly recommended as a comfy lodge for a short rainforest experience with a good location, nice pool, reasonable food and friendly people.

Evergreen Lodge lives up to its name – it is a lodge (basic, yet comfortable and clean) and everything around is GREEN and LUSH! With mesh-screens and curtains instead of walls/ windows one really feels as being – CONSTANTLY – in a middle of a jungle; spending two nights there was a fascinating multi-sensory experience. Be prepared for a possibility of rain – and plenty of it! Everything in the room can get damp rather quickly because of natural humidity. Buffet style meals were good and of a great variety, considering the only way to this place (for people and goods) is by boats (or a small plane); and the staff were polite, professional and friendly. We have done two boat trips around tropical wetlands, one wildlife walk and a trip to Tortuguero. With a skilled guide (ours was Margel) it was always an eye-opening and amazing ‘expedition’, with so much to see and learn – flora and fauna of Costa Rica are incredibly rich!!

This is a great little lodge. The staff were extremely nice and helpful as well as the tour guide. Everyone gets their own little hut. The huts to do not have AC or actual windows, just screens. I tend to run hot and even though it was super humid out, I was comfortable in the hut. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, and there were sufficient outlets for all of my electronics. The best part of this lodge though, was the boat ride to the lodge and the grounds of the lodge. On the boat ride, the guide pointed out many crocodiles, iguanas, jesus lizards, etc. At the lodge, there were many white faced monkeys and howler monkeys. They offer a guided walk through the grounds of their sister property Aninga a quick ride away. On that walk, there were many spider monkeys which were amazing.
