We really loved our stay at Pura Vida, definitely one of the best small hotels we stayed in in our Central America. Run by a friendly Chilean-German couple, honestly the hotel is an oasis of calm and cleanliness. We were supposed to be in Puerto Viejo for 2 nights we ended up staying for a week. Breakfast was basic but... More

We loved everything about this hotel. The quiet location, friendly staff, the clean, spacious rooms that allowed a bit of breeze in through the windows at night, the hammocks everywhere, the friendly cats and dog, .. Just wonderful.

This was our first taste of Costa Rican hospitality and we enjoyed it. Clean rooms, nice relaxing atmosphere in the hotel. Breakfast looked good but we looked elsewhere. It was the price that left us swallowing hard (but this is the norm is CR).

On the paper everything in Pura Vida hotel look nice. So you take a room, but then you discover a list of ridiculous rules which make you feel at school again (examples : 50$ fine if you bring a friend in the hotel, no shoes in the public area of the hotel...) - These rules might make you think that... I have spent my time in puerto Viejo at this magestic place. It was so nice to wake up here. It was always relaxing come back to from whatever you were doing (beach, Manzallino, Cahuita, Party night). It is so clean, comfortable , plesent and homey. For sure, the best hotel I've been to in Costa Rica .

After a week of hostels in sticky, hot, smelly mixed dorms as a couple, for a similar price we were able to stay in this amazing hotel for three nights!!! When we turned up the receptionist was super helpful showing me all the rooms available, in my opinion $30 for a double room with single and double bed and private... More

Last summer my wife and I took a few Spanish classes at Pura Vida Language School. We both fell in love with Luis, the school's head master. He is a born teacher. He took personal interest in both of us and left me with a desire to return as soon as possible. I had a spring break at the end... More

We had a 2 bed room on the lower level. The room was large with mosquito nets over the beds with a private bathroom- if I went back I would request a room on the upper level as we could hear every movement of the people in the rooms above. Pros: - good, safe location, walking distance to the main... More

The room was comfortable and spacious with a bit more charm than we've had on the rest of the trip. Very secure with a great location close to all the spots in town. The hosts were very kind and went out of their way to help us with all of our needs. I would come again to see them in... More

Two blocks back from the main street, the hotel has a good location. It's clean, comfortable and full of character. My upstairs room had a shared terrace with a hammock. No TVs in the rooms mean you don't hear your neighbours and it's quiet at night. Unfortunately it's not all perfect. The wifi is poor and at times didn't work.... More
