¡A la 1 la hora del café si usted quiere! If you stay at Casa Renada, you’ll know what it means. It’s been an amazing home away from home; and I'll miss it. Stayed during a month (January 21) doing remote work as nomad. More than a private cabin with beds and good internet, more than a very nice place to stay (to which no pictures do true justice); the value proposition Renata's family is offering is sharing a moment of life during your stay "Tico's laidback way... pushing stress away". They shared with me as in sharing for real.... If you are not up for it, also plenty fine but you'll miss on that personal touch. I take away their positive influence (Daniel, Renata and their daughter Laurita) who truly enjoyed sharing with me. En español dicen compartir es vivir; Casa Renada es vida! I would not think twice where to stay going back to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca.

Last week I went with my two kids (14 and 12 years) to Costa Rica for holidays and to visit my highschool friend who lives there. She took me to the Caribean part of the country (about 4 hours from San Jose) where we stayed for 4 days in Casa Renada with owners Daniel and Renata. Our room had three 1,5 beds so we all had our own. It was clean and well decorated. The facilities are good and the breakfast in the morning is fabulous. My kids never ate so much while they are very picky at it especially when I cook. Renata makes fresh bread and 4 different juices, eggs, other fruits and ofcourse also the local rice. Best was Renata's cinnamon pie, which my daughter still misses, and Daniel's heisse schoki aus der Schweiz.
To be short, it is a place where you feel welcome and safe, the hosts take very good care of you and the location is close to the beach (Playa negra) and the center. Everything you can do by foot, I even left my son of 12 to have dinner with my daughter in the center one evening, because he was tired. With Renata and Daniel there I was not worried at all. Go there and you will see that all this is true and affordable. Thanks Renata and Daniel. We will be back!

We loved every minute at Casa Renada - our cabin, sharing it with our extended family, the amazing breakfasts prepared by Renada, the beautiful handcrafted tilework and woodwork thanks to Daniel, and the special part of the world on the Caribbean. It was fun walking around the beautiful property, getting a personal nature walk from Daniel and expert suggestions about the neighboring beaches and the nocturnal hike. The beach at Cahuita National Park was beyond perfection. Hoping to return in the future - a great trip for all three generations

Beautiful, spacious and well-equipped luxury cabins. The garden with all its many plants, trees, flowers, orquideas etc. is amaizing. When in Puerto Viejo you want to stay at Casa Renada!!! Also the swimming pool with its small water fall and warm water is perfect. Breakfast is incredible, almost buffet style and so much food!

We stayed at Casa Renada for 4 nights at the end of our trip. As it was a local holiday weekend, everything in town was booked up, but we got very lucky as Casa Renada had a cancellation and offered us a room. We could not have been more lucky. The place was even better than we had expected; the garden, the rooms, the swimming pool, everything is designed with great detail and shows the effort Daniel and Renata put into their home. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and decorated with work of local artist. The bathroom is light and with a rainshower, and the beds are very comfortable (as is your private terrace).

The breakfast is the best we had in all of Nicaragua and Costa Rica. You can choose out of 4 or 5 selfmade juices (free to take as much as you want), you get a fresh fruitshake, coffee, pancakes, eggs the way you like them, avocado, gallo pinto, cake, fresh fruit, cheese, homemade bread - simply amazing, and you can eat as much as you want from all of the above!! All of the days we had breakfast and then skipped lunch when on the beach.

The owners are extremely friendly! Every morning when having breakfast Daniel would hang around and have a chat with us on all sorts of subjects, and he really added to our stay there! They love Costa Rica, and Puerto Viejo and are happy to tell you about everything they know. We felt really at home and were sorry we had to leave.

This place sounds to good to be true maybe, but I will assure you it lives up to the expectations!

This resort is absolutely beautiful. Words cannot describe how perfect this place is or how wonderful the family running the property are. I have never had such a nice and comfortable stay on a vacation within a vacation. The gardening on the property is fabulous and the tile work inside and out are fantastic. My favorite part was the tile work in the bathrooms. This resort serves a fabulous breakfast where they offer coffee, milkshakes, multiple fresh juices for drinks and tipico food. They often make their own jams for the fresh bread they bake. The location is at the beginning of town and within walking distance to the black sand beaches. The property is locked and closed at all times so the owners let you in as you come in and out. This gives a sense of security for your belongings. I cant even begin to describe how incredible the private rooms and individual decks are. They provide lines to dry clothes and umbrellas. There is a beautiful pool on property with outdoor showers. This resort is just fantastic in all areas! It is the best place to stay in Puerto Viejo hands down! This place should be number 1 on TripAdvisor!

This property is surrounded by lush gardens carefully maintained and beautifully landscaped by Renata, one of the owners. Her husband Daniel is a great host as well. They provide a wonderful breakfast buffet for a very low cost with an great variety of breakfast options and exceptional breads and jams - comida tipica, a variety of fresh juices each day and some gringo options as well if needed :)

There is a large pool on site for great family time or a quick dip after spending the day at the beach. We were so fortunate to have a sloth join us for pool time in a near by tree. Was great to just watch him slowly move from branch to branch from the comforts of the cool pool water. Renata and Daniel mentioned that toucans frequent the property as well and we saw lizards and frogs at night.

The rooms are very clean and well maintained. The bathrooms are beautifully decorated with exquisite tile work and nice finishings. Great showers, shower head and all with hot water :) A shower towel and pool towel are each provided per guest. Bring your own beach towels if you plan for beach time.

Overall the best property we have stayed at in Costa Rica! Small comfortable property with charm, great hospitality and excellent amenities!!!

We were 3 couples, spending 4 nights at Casa Renada this past week. Pure luxury! The cabins (or apartments, or suites, or whatever you might call the units) are spacious, well appointed with fridge, safe deposit box, Wifi, spacious bathroom sanitarily perfect, a comfortably furnished terrace looking onto lush gardens, a swimming pool, safe car parking! What specially surprises is their breakfast: fresh fruit and juices, an assortment of freshly baked breads, home made yoghurt, espresso coffee, eggs cooked to taste, too much and inviting to list! The owners, Renata and Daniel, really manage a little jewel. You must obtain directions: there are no publicity signs. It's a well-kept secret!

Casa Renada is a place where your dreams come true if you are looking for a quiet, charming hotel and great host family in the middle of a meticulous arrange nature paradise.
The host family Dani and Renata with their daughter Laura know everything about the local plants and fruits an you can find almost all of those local fruits present in their resort. Those organic fruits get even served every morning for breakfast among other yummy things.
Renata's breakfast is totally unparalleled.
We spent a week there with our 9 and 11 year old sons and we had a blast at the resort as well on our day tours in the area.
We thank the Widmer family for making our so far last Caribbean Trip the best ever!!!
