Bad service, no clean water, not able to shower as water is almost never available, uncomfortable rooms, and the whole group got sick with a bacteria from drinking from the "clean" water they offer...some even to the hospital.... Please don't waste your money and time there...

It is not that water is not clean- please -it is that in the whole area we do not have water from the government reason why water comes only if it rains. We are aware of this issue and because of that a technique comes every week to clean properly our wells and make sure the rain water coming from wells are good for showering even cooking but not drinking reason why we do provide bottled water for this purpose. Must of the times people get sick because of rotten food and ice from restaurants or dehydrating from sun abuse or hangovers not necessarily cause our water.

I don't think that their lack of amenities around, just enough ones to choose. For example in our punta uva beach we do have two supermarkets, like four restaurants and, only one kilometer further in paya chiquita beach like seven restaurants and a huge supermarket. Credit cards are accepted is most places but in some of them like in walaba we do charge only a 5% more due bank commission.

I really enjoyed my time at Walaba, with Punta Uva beach basically across the road. The hostel reminded me of a treehouse and is surrounded by lush jungle. It has the most well equipped kitchen out of anywhere I've ever stayed with a small grocery store not too far away by foot

Hi Virginia, The best is with a shuttle pick up in our hostel and drop off in Monteverde. The cost is $60.00 and we can arrange it for you Otherwise is complicated as you have to go first to La Fortuna and from there Monteverde if you don't want to go to San Jose.
