Fantastic property. Follows eco principals, excellent accommodations, great staff, and birds everywhere. I take a class to Costa Rica during Winter break to look at ecotourism and we always spend a couple of nights here. The property is maintained as a semi-reserve and the hotel is certified as ecofriendly. Really great place to stay!

I stayed at the Ara Ambigua Lodge for two nights in August 2016 with my husband and two boys, ten and almost two years old. Our room was close to the upper pool. It was quite spacious, but the decoration and furniture were rather tacky and tasteless, there was hardly any space to put one’s clothes (only a small, open-front... More

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel, Rooms were clean and tidy, two double beds in our room. AC and great shower. Slightly dark in room as we were surrounded by the gardens. Didn't really matter as we where not in the rooms that much. Restaurant good had a good choice on offer, cocktails were good too. Once it got dark... More

The gardens are gorgeous! At night, we saw many red eyed tree frogs near the restaurant. The chorus of frogs singing at night is beautiful. We did have a few issues with the toilets in 3 rooms, but maintenance came to fix it right away. The rooms were clean and nice, and the A/C felt great! The pizza is a... More

We landed in Sarapiqui without a reservation and found this place. The rooms are spacious and the best thing about them is the outdoor covered patio. We got in our room just before a torrential downpour and it was sweet to sit out there and watch the rain pound down on the jungle growth. The evening meal was superb. Had... More

Nice lodge with a huge restaurant area where they serve great cocktails. The food is nice but a bit too fancy for the place. Downside is that there's no fan so it's very hot and a lot of mosquitos. The garden is big and beautiful and in the evening you can spot different types of frogs. The place is good... More

I was visiting Costa Rica with a group of students. Beautiful facility, friendly staff, wonderful food, clean rooms, comfortable beds and AIR CONDITIONING! Highly recommend this place. The entire facility is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation.

The food and cocktails were ok. The room was not something I would choose again. The beds were small, full size I think, and hard and squeaky. There were not any extra towels or blankets. The bathroom was small and the lighting in it was terrible. The shower door was falling off and the shower head didn't flow very well.... More

I didn't actually stay at this lodge, but I ate at the restaurant. Twice! The food here was the best I had during my 2-week stay in Costa Rica. The ceviche was fresh and light. I've forgotten the name of the first chicken dish I had, but it was described as a fusion. The second was Chicken Gordon (yes with... More

I visited this hotel in April of 2014 and 2016 and if you enjoy wildlife you will love this place! The rooms are little bungalows with nice air conditioning - clean and comfortable with private bathrooms. The food was great- I went with a group so we had buffets- one night was a make your own pasta bar and in... More
