I’ve had the pleasure of staying at Casa Tropical a handful of times. It is a perfect jumping off point for a Costa Rican vacation. Close to the airport in a very nice quiet neighborhood Casa Tropical offers very charming, clean and comfortable rooms. The staff is very accommodating and can arrange tours and recommend good restaurants. Breakfast is also included with the room. The rates are very reasonable and the management led by Andrea and her husband Victor work hard to make your stay a pleasant one. I was there on family business and they offered to take me out one evening to watch a UFC fight at a nearby Bar/Restaurant. They really didn’t have to do that but I went with them and had a blast. I’ve stayed at many hotels in San Jose but I really prefer the home away from home feeling I get when I stay at Casa Tropical.

Hidden gem in the city. Andrea was extremely accommodating and friendly. The rooms are nice and beds comfortable. The breakfast was typical Costa Rican breakfast and was very good. There is secure parking for one or two vehicles within the property which was very convenient because we had a rental car.

This is a comfortable gem of a place to stay. We were here for a family vacation and wedding. It was close to San Joaquin & we were able to walk to the Christmas Market and several restaurants & coffee shops. A relaxing place to just hang out. Beds were comfortable & the breezes cooled the rooms for a good night sleep. Breakfast was filling every day & included in the cost of the room which was very economical. Will definitely come back!

WE had a hard time finding the place but when we got there the room was very adequate and the staff was friendly. One thing you need to know if you want free airport shuttle you need to book it a day ahead of time. THe breakfast was fantastic.

Is very important for us to know the arrival or departure time if the guests need shuttle ( I agree), is better to have tha flight information in advance because we organize all the transportations (is much better if the guests contac our satff 24 or 48 hrs before arriving). I stayed here for 2 nights on my recent trip to Costa Rica. Carlos himself, or one of his friends, will pick you up or drop you off at SJO for free! The airport is close by, so this place is very convenient if you are either arriving or departing from SJO. In both the separate rooms I stayed in, there was a fan, large bathroom with hot water, tv, both rooms were nice and modern and affordable and very clean. Breakfast was delicious, fresh sweet fruit and scrambled eggs with mushrooms and hot dog (ask for veggie scramble so no hot dog).
This place is in a neighborhood with not much nearby, so you can order dinner to be delivered to the hotel. Carlos or the staff will help you with ordering (they will call and place your order for you). There is also a computer with internet for free, in addition to free wifi.
Complaints - one star off for hearing planes and dogs barking in the night, but my earplugs completely drowned out the noise and thats pretty good since I am a super light sleeper! Walls are thin so you can hear other people pulling out chairs and talking in other rooms. And the credit card machine was broken both nights so I had to pay in cash, which was inconvenient for me since I had to go to the atm but overall not a big deal.
The bottom line is that Carlos is incredibly helpful, friendly, and reliable, and the hotel itself is in a nice and low key location. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone who is traveling in or out of SJO. I would and will stay here again if I go back to Costa Rica!

B&B Vista Los Volcanes is convenient to the airport and to Heredia near San Jose. The rooms are a delight and breakfast is very good. Great value for the price. A nice courtyard. They are also good at arranging things, such as a taxi if you want to go into San Jose for the evening.

Thank you very much for your question. We offer free transportation from or to the international SJO Airport. If you want to go to San José is possible by publlic bus o train. There is a train station in the town (15 minutes from our B&B)/every 30 minutes., it takes 25 minutes to get to San José. By bus takes 30 minutes (rush our 45 minutes).

I am almost certain it was from 7am-9am for a hot meal. But they did accommodate us with a cold meal even when we had to leave at 6am to go to the airport. You might email them at the email address listed on their website for a definite answer.
I made my reservation via either exped ia or orbits or hotels ., I forget which, but it was one of them. You might want to e-mail to confirm afterwards. The owner might be able to pick you up from the San Jose airport, which is quite close.
