Dreamsea Costa Rica is an eco-friendly, self-sustained, glamping & surf camp, strategically constructed on a 10,000 square meter patch of obscure land, centrally located in the magical jungles of Tamarindo, Costa Rica. We provide a unique opportunity for the adventurous traveler to experience the authentic Costa Rican way of life, through a seamless marriage of Surfing & Glamping. Through daily surfing, glamping, yoga, remote beach and waterfall excursions, paired with countless of other activities, our surf camp serves as a foundation to connect with yourself, other adventurous travelers, and Costa Rica's extraordinary offerings of nature and wildlife. Dreamsea is within 2-3 kilometers of proximity to four of the most exquisite beaches (Playa Tamarindo, Playa Langosta, Playa Avellanas, and Playa Grande) that the Guanacaste region beholds. Our motto is "Collect moments, not things". Once you arrive in camp, you have to check out of regular life and check into your inner tranquility. While you are at Dreamsea, be prepared to open your mind, body, and soul, ultimately forming memories that will last a lifetime. Dreamsea is doing, Dreamsea is feeling, Dreamsea is simply being you.

What an amazing experience!! The camp is in the middle of the jungle, with monkeys and birds around. I met amazing people and explored a bit of Costa Rica with them. I love how they do fun activities/games every day, and the little pub in the camp is key. Also the price is really good for Tamarindo. 100% recommended!

My stay in the villa was a dream! It’s a little oasis in the middle of the jungle, equipped with everything you need. I highly recommend this for couples or solo travelers that need some R&R. While I was there I left a little surfing mural to offer inspiration, joy and excitement for your stay at Dreamsea. Enjoy the wave, Pura Vida!

Had a terrible experience! It’s really unorganized but if you wanna party and don’t care about anything this might suits you but if you wanna go for the surfing it’s definitely the wrong place. As a surf camp to have one surf coach seems a bit like a joke and it definitely was. I’m an intermediate surfer and thought I could improve a bit here. In my first week I didn’t even get surf lessons at all because there were lots of beginners and the coach didn’t have time to teach an intermediate!! I felt sorry for the coach tho because he had to teach classes of like 7 people. He did a good job but it’s just not how it should be. They surf everday in Tamarindo no matter if the waves are good or not. They do excursions to Playa Grande and Avellana but you need to pay 10 bucks extra for the shuttle and also they don’t care if there are good waves or not. The food was ok but usually not enough, plates were dirty and it’s basically rice and beans everyday. The Camp is full of Volunteers so it’s more of a teenie camp. It says they offer a 6 am surf daily. In two weeks there it happened once!!! And one time we were supposed to do it but the surf coach did not show up because he was hangover. I only stayed the two weeks because I already paid for it. I do not recommend it at all! Even if you are short on budget I’m sure you can find a better place than this.

I had a nice trip to Tamarindo, the surf was nice, but the experience at the camp is not like it is described on the website and it is really expensive for what it really is. If you are more that 19 years old, I really don’t recommend the place. They say that there is planned athletic activities at the camp, but the camp’s activities are really just drinking games and party. I think it’s nice if you’re 18-20 years old, but older than that and if you are there for the surf, you will be disappointed. Because there are more volunteers than guests, they party every night because they don’t surf the next morning and you can’t really sleep because there is loud music till 3am almost every night. I felt like guests were there to pay for the volunteer’s experience. David is a really good surf instructor, but with 20-30 guests and only one surf instructor, you surf for only 1h / day and because everyone is beginner, if you are an intermediate surfer, you don’t really get a lesson. They say that there’s one excursion AND one surf trip / week, but it’s one excursion OR one surf trip / week and the trip was really expensive for what is really was.

one of my best highlights of my trip in Costa Rica; I spent 3 weeks at Dreamsea in the middle of jungle. From start to finish it was a fascinating, unique and extraordinary experience. Waking up with the wildlife by hearing the sounds of the monkeys and birds was unbelievable - espacially the morning yoga sessions. Everything at the camp was well organized. Those weeks at the camp made me forget the world outside just to enjoy, relax and learn. The friendliness of the Dreamsea Team made me like a part of the family. I felt so welcomed from the beginning on. I’ll definitely come back. PURA VIDA!

I’ve stayed twice in this camp (4 years apart) and I learned that you can’t have enough of it, you will always want to stay more and more time there. Staying at Dreamsea means having a 180 degrees experience everyday. One day at camp means relaxing, surfing, morning-sunset yoga, doing hundreds of organized activities and partying with amazing people from all over the world at the astonishing Costa Rican jungle. Staying at Dreamsea means having an unforgettable experience where you can step out of your ordinary life and make some real living experiences. Dreamsea is definitely not just a place to stay, it’s a constantly changing community of people where everyone wants to enjoy life at its best. The camp staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, they’re always attentive to any need that may arise so they can help you have the best time in your stay . So if you’re a person that likes to have a great time while surfing and making friends from all over the world, Dreamsea is your option.

Unless you’re an 18 year old who’s just finished up at boarding school and wants nothing more out of Costa Rica than to drink until 3am every night. There are no covid measures and there seems to be a mutual agreement amongst volunteers (which is everyone at camp) that if someone falls ill then it’s best not to tell anyone ... and so it goes round. Low and behold we got covid there. There are never any actual ‘guests’ here and the whole business model runs off volunteers... what’s wrong with that you might ask? Well, if there’s no guests and a bunch of 18 year olds doing their chores then go figure. The location is far from the surf beach and the shuttle always arrives late - making it impossible to get to the surf any time before 11am. Not safe to walk alone when getting dark either so a $6-8 taxi it is. The food is unimaginative and bland. The coffee unpalatable. The bathrooms have cockroaches, spiders galore and are always covered in poo covered toilet paper - remnants from the night before. You better hope you’re not put on toilet cleaning for your duration. One morning there were even 2 used condoms in the shower that no one would clear up. Dreamsea couldn’t be further from glamping - an old mattress on the floor of a patched up old tent. So so hot and no chance of a fan. Shake out your clothes in the morning because there’s also no shelves or anything to get them off the dirty floor. I’ve stayed in many surf camps and I know the score, and this is without a doubt the worst one I’ve ever seen. The yoga and surf instructor volunteers all left within days of arriving - so it was a ‘yoga and surf’ camp without any of that. Great, more partying. If you want to pay over the odds to clean up 18 year olds hungover poo, and get covid, then I highly recommend this place! If not steer clear.

It was an amazing experience (out of this world, emphasis added) with Dreamsea. Surfing for the first time, I was staying at a hotel in Tamarindo. It felt empty. Then I heard about Dreamsea from a friend and gave it a try. I'm so much the richer in life, as a result. Memories formed, friendships forged that I'd retain over a lifetime. In a nutshell, Dreamsea is not just a surfing camp. It is an experience that everyone who enjoys surfing should have. There are many things that are unique about Dreamsea: it's charming set up in the middle of the jungle. It cosy atmosphere. The tree house where I read. The lazy dog lying stretched on the ground in a small pool of light. The people that I met. Who came from all over the world with their unique stories. And, last but not the least, the engaging activities that Dreamsea organises. The trips to the sea in their blue pick up. It's simply superb. Highly recommend Dreamsea.

I volunteered at DreamSea as an Artist and thanks to this opportunity I had the time of my life. I found there to be an incredible community here, led by the owner and staff who connect with everyone who stays to truly create a family, one that is evolving constantly. DreamSea is a camp in the jungle of Costa Rica, a 10 minute car ride from Tamarindo. There are lots of animals and lots of life in this sweet spot. The camp owns two dogs (which had puppies while I was there!) there are two kitties roamin and you will hear birds, monkeys, roosters and more. If you are a volunteer you stay in a dorm with other volunteers and as a guest you stay in lovely spacious glamping tents. I lucked out on my first few nights and got my own tent - then moved to the BUS (which was quirky and ultimately the dopest spot) I stayed with 6 other girls and we became such good friends, we ended up traveling to Nicaragua together! You will find yourself doing yoga at 7am with amazing teachers and then eat a pretty lavish breakfast at 8 (dinner is at 7:30-ish) Yes, its important to get there on time if you want all the fixings because most people at the camp are very active and they’re hungry. The food is amazing. It is always different, authentic and very nutritious, I miss it! Seconds are allowed after everyone has eaten so pay attention and get in line! Everyone is super friendly. My first night I arrived at dinner almost 30 minutes late, there was nothing left D; but people realized and went to the kitchen and found a bunch of food for me, another girl even offered her plate! You quickly feel at home here. Every morning the shuttles come at 10 am. As an artist volunteer I had a lot of work to do. I had to repaint all the bathrooms and then tackle a bunch of murals. So, I went into town later in the day… and I usually walked. Tamarindo is about a 25 minute walk away from camp and DreamSea says that on the website. But honestly, the walk is nice and if you stick out your thumb you will almost always find a ride with a local. We usually hitch hiked if we missed the shuttle and have some fun stories from it. Shuttles bring you back to camp around 6pm. Its up to you whether you want to stay in town or not. Its never difficult to get a ride, Taxi's are abundant and are only around $8. Every night after dinner there is a meeting where Ollie or Artem explain what is going on within the next week or two. The camp organizes a lot of trips, so go on them! Whether it is to an amazing beach for the surf, a rodeo trip, cliff diving or even exotic hot springs, take that adventure with the people at the camp, you’re bound to make some amazing friends and memories! The meeting also introduces new arrivals and sends off the people who have stayed at the camp. Its really a wonderful experience where you can express your love for one another and remember the times you have shared. The meetings are always lovely because of Ollie and Artem. They couldn’t be more opposite in their personalities, but they are both so beautifully genuine. Talk to them! They are great people. They can give you advice on places to go and things to do and are always down for a laugh. <3 (My favorite memories include: Learning to surf!!! Music Bingo. Laughter yoga on the beach. Songs around the campfire. The stars. Playa Avellanas/Playa Grande. Matos Surf Shop. Thursday night Markets and the Full Moon @ Playa Langosta ❤ Leaving is hard! You will meet forever friends here and cherish your experiences. I came back after Nicaragua because I couldn’t stay away. I’ve met multiple people throughout my journey that have been to DreamSea and keep coming back. If you want to wake up in hammocks, chillout in a treehouse and spend the night on a beach then this is the place for you. You will be closer to nature than you ever have before.
