A classic lodge from the time when the town was first featured in one of "The Endless Summer" movies. A surfer inspired lodging from where you could see the whole beach to check out the surf, before the town mushroomed the what it is today: a tourist boomtown with something for everyone. The digs are a perfect place to stay between forays to and from the beach or town, and the description is accurate. Stayed here for ten days, and many trips into the country side. The owner, Joey, is a great host with years of local knowledge to plunder.

Great place to stay. It was our first time in CR not at a resort and it was a very pleasant experience. Casa Bambora was a little gem. Our room (Honeymoon Suite) was spacious and very clean. The views were fanstastic and we really enjoyed our two weeks there. We were very lucky in that my wife and I were the only ones staying for our first 9 days, then other folks were out most of the day...very relaxing. We ate in town every other day then cooked dinner "at home" the rest of the time. The walk into town down the hill is interesting but very managable with caution. It's not really a smooth walk rather a careful climb on loose dirt and over tree roots, but as I've said, it's very managable. We did walk into Tamarido using the streets also, it didn't add much time to the walk and gave us a good look at the area. Walking around Tamarindo even at night we felt was quite safe. The Casa Bambora pool and kitchen area are great to use, as we did each day. The pool is sparkling clean and refreshing. Joey, the owner, was quite pleasant to deal with and gave us a few recommendations for restaurants which we took advantage of. He has 2 dogs that are around every day and are both great, Scrappy pretty much sticks to himself and Raya (sp?) is a total suck that loves meeting you each day. For us it's a definate do over.

My wife and I stayed at Casa Bambora for 7 nights. (3 nights in the 3rd floor studio & 4 nights in the honeymoon suite.) The owner lives on site and was extremely helpful; this was our first time to the area, second time to Costa Rica. Joey, like us, is an animal lover, so we hit it off right away. His dogs are well behaved, and enhanced our experience. The website is very accurate, Casa Bambora is located a few minutes from town and Tamarindo beach- amazing! Warmest ocean water I’ve ever been in (November) and we travel to the tropics several times a year. Casa Bambora is located on a hill, which gives those great 360° views. The hike wasn’t an issue for us as we are both fit. The beach is long and flat, with hard packed sand, which made (one of our favourite things) long walks along the beach outstanding! The sunsets from either the beach, or Casa Bambora, made for some of our best pictures ever; several are worth hanging on our wall. The hardest part will be deciding which one to blow up. The grocery store a 5 minute walk away had everything we needed. (fyi- groceries are pricey, not a big deal) I highly recommend Casa Bambora if you’re looking for a quiet, private and very clean condo style accommodation with unbeatable views. Excellent value for your money!

Great experience with personalized, attentive service. Incredible views. Large, quiet rooms with full kitchens, fridge/freezer, coffee maker, blender, flat screen tv, excellent showers, comfy beds and patios. Nice common area by the pool, also with a stocked kitchen, large bbq grill, bar stools, thick-bottomed pots & pans and full size fridge/freezer where we stored all our dinner fare. We love grilling and made dinner there most evenings, followed by a dip in the warm pool. Short walk to grocery stores, numerous cool restaurants and bars. Deep end of pool is 8 ft & we enjoyed jumping in off the waterfall. The owner is friendly & knowledgeable relative to eating options & local activities. We especially loved the long and beautiful zip lining (30 mins away). If you're heading to Tamarindo, Casa Bambora is a wonderful spot.

Book this place if you're going to be in Tamarindo! It's a great experience with the pool and the communal kitchen area, and the rooms (apartments) are very large and private, with everything you need in them. The next time we go to Costa Rica, we'll use Casa Bambora as our homebase while we travel around! Free parking and excellent shower, plus very comfy bed.
