This little cabins are in the middle of nowhere! Sorrounding by trees! A 2 minute walk to the beach! If you are looking for a peaceful place! This is it! The cabins are practically in the front of the beach! A beautiful view, but the beach waves are big! So you must know how to swim as no life guard... More

Wonderful experience here just last week! Eight of us went as the ending of a 30 plus year reunion. The staff was very hospitable, restraurant food fabulous and room very comfortable. If you are looking for the ultimate "comfort and luxury" vacation, this is Not your place. We wanted something Rustic, more authentic "tico" on the beach. And that's what... More

I booked this place last minute. We were staying in a house down the road from here. The Hotel was our go to for lunch or board rentals. We loved being here so much we extended our stay one extra day and stayed here. Raymond took our reservation the day before, our unit was ready early next morning. The place... More

Myself and my husband happened upon this place when we drove down to playa negra, we initially said we would stay 2 nights but ended up staying 7... The cabinas are beautifully rustic and kept spotlessly clean. We stayed in one without air conditioning- we found it perfectly comfortable as it had a high ceiling and caught the ocean breeze.... My husband and 2 college age sons and I just returned from our Costa Rican vacation. We spent 9 nights at Hotel Playa Negra. The property is right on the beach, perfect for sunbathing, walking, surfing, sunset watching, etc. The hotel restaurant is necessary because there isn't any options for eating unless you have a car. The food was good... More

My 9 year old daughter and I stumbled upon Hotel Playa Negra when were desperately looking for a place to stay after a messy Airbnb experience. Luckily, they had one cabina left that was meant for us. The cabinas are very clean and comfortable, with nice amenities. The beach is literally outside your room and is a great view to... More

My daughter and I spent two nights here, and enjoyed it very much. It was quiet, serene, excellent food and service, comfortable and clean accommodations. Definitely appeals to surfers, but we were able to walk the beach, check out tide pools, and enjoy the surroundings virtually by ourselves (except on the beach directly in front of the hotel).

We spent 10 days travelling through Costa Rica and the last 4 in Playa Negra. The cabanas don't have AC but with the wind off the ocean it is not required. Our first night was Friday night, which they have bbq that night. This night it was Argentinian bbq with pork, beef, chicken and chorizo sausage - it was wonderful.... More

This place was quiet and beautiful. I was traveling alone and enjoyed the quiet evening after being in Jaco and San Jose earlier in the week. The beach was just steps away. The sunset was amazing and the night sky was crystal clear. Wind...even though it was beautiful out the wind was relentless. I don't know if it's like that... More

This western coast town south of Tamarindo is perfect for people who like to be off the beaten path and love beautiful scenery, amazing surfing & black sand beaches. We delighted in walking the beach and finding tidal pools to recline in as the tide rose. The hotel restaurant is right at the beach, just steps from your straw roof... More
