We stayed in Las Ranas for two nights in June. It was a great start of our honeymoon. Lovely room, beautiful views and yummy breakfast! While sitting on the balcony we were welcomed by monkeys, tucans and iguanas! Everything was spotless! Laura was extremely helpful...More
Stayed here with my wife and son so we could get in some beach time on our trip to Costa Rica. The lodge was wonderful for us to rest at night after a day on the beach. Nice pool and great breakfast/drinks even during the...More
Paradise! Was the first thing we thought when we arrived. Nearby the village Samara, but yet so close to nature. Really nice rooms, pool etc. Staff was also very friendly: when I asked Walter if they where selling pipa's (sort of coconut) he actually chopped...More
As far as what I look for in a vacation lair, Las Ranas is right up my alley! It is just the right size, 10 rooms and two apartments, located on a hill overlooking Samara town, with great vistas of Carillo and Buena Vista Beach....More
The lodge Las Ranas has a spectacular view. The rooms are comfortable and breakfast is served every morning. Each room has a fan, but I don't think there was AC. When we were there, the lodge had two guard dogs that are well-behaved. This lodge...More

As the previous person answered, taxis are realitvely easy to find for about $4 one way from the hotel to the beach. We can arrange shuttles for you to airports and other towns. Rental vehicles are the most common form of transportation for most of our guests. Having a rental also allows you to explore more remote beaches of which there are many in our area.

Was just there. No on the hammock. No on 'walking distance' but that means you don't have the loud noise of town--Las Ranas is high atop a hill with stunning beach views from some rooms, all have balconies. Rooms are GORGEOUS, each with its own private bath. Yes on air con and wifi, and a basic but well prepared fruit-and-toast breakfast. Additions to 'basic' prepared to order at minimal cost. Beaches are about four miles away--taxi would be needed, but taxis are cheap. Beautiful pool area with great views.
It's a fifteen minute walk along quiet roads/tracks. Another 5 mins along the beach to the centre of Sámara. The lodge is up a very steep drive. We have just spent 6 days there and walked some of the time and used taxis... More
It's a fifteen minute walk along quiet roads/tracks. Another 5 mins along the beach to the centre of Sámara. The lodge is up a very steep drive. We have just spent 6 days there and walked some of the time and used taxis (mostly at night) US $4 the rest.

"Wonderful views, room 5 definitely has the best, rooms 9/10 are away from the pool and other activity."
