We were excited about staying at the tree houses. The location being on the beach is awesome. The grounds were clean and the space outside was inviting. We booked three nights but ended up leaving at 5pm the first day. We agree with the other reviews about deferred maintenance. Tiles broken and fridge rusted. Our biggest issue was with the evidence of termites eating the bed. Dust was in the bed and the bugs themselves were on the bed. We also noticed the térmite dust on shelves in the kitchen. When we notified the staff they were very accommodating and nice. They understood why we could not stay. They offered us another unit but we declined. They also reached out to me the next day when we left some belongings in the unit. I am not sure how they will remedy this issue since the units are completely made of wood. We wish them luck.

We stayed in May/June 2021. Another review recently mentioned it was a bit run down. We agree. First the good, then I'll describe the bad. There was a variety of staff there. It seemed to change every day. They were nice enough and we had no problem with them. Our cleaning lady was incredible. We left her a $20 tip which she deserved. The grounds are immaculately clean and safe. Beach access is stone throw away. They have hammocks and recliners under each unit. Those are incredible to lay in just watch the ocean in the shade. Keep in mind, you DO NOT have a sunset view. Samara bay actually faces a bit south so the sun sets over land, not on the ocean. The location and view is fantastic but some of the rooms have views blocked by some growing palm trees which defeats the whole purpose of staying there. The neighbor seems to be some hippie guy who plays his own music. It was a bit loud but actually pretty good stuff. Mellow electronic. No 120 BPM rave stuff. One room at least has serious power problem. An outlet in one room could not run two fans at the same time. They would both rotate slowly, meaning there was not appropriate voltage to that outlet. One fan in the same outlet was not running at full potential. In the bed room where the air conditioner was plugged in, there was electrical burn marks on the outlet. We switched rooms. The other room seemed to have sufficient power to the electrical outlets. The general condition of the room was not horrible, but it was showing a history of no repairs or renovations. The bedroom had a portable air conditioning unit which cooled it enough at night that we had no problems sleeping. Although, there was a sign on the door which asked for us to keep it off in the room while we were not in it. I don't have a problem saving electricity but the room itself has windows with ¼ inch / 6mm gaps letting light through, as well as gaps in the door. Old incandescent bulbs generating heat with the air conditioner. Not energy efficient at all. Why bother turning off the Air conditioner if the owner is not putting for the effort to save energy and cool the room more efficiently? Chipped tile in the bathroom. Rust all over on the shower rod which was falling out of the wall. Sink has massive chipping and cracking on the inside surface. The last paint job was done sloppy. Peeling paint. Corroded faucets. The fridge was rusting (but on the good side is WAS VERY COLD), knobs missing from the kitchen drawers which the finished was destroyed by years of weather and use. Old dirty looking light switches. The kitchen utensils, cookware looked like it came from a garage sale 30 years ago. It was obvious the rooms have not been taken care of over the years. No updates at all, or any repairs seem to have been poorly done. It is not my want to write a poor review but we stayed in far better places with a cheaper price during our 2.5 week trip in Costa Rica. There are a lot of other properties on the beach front that have the same view and cheaper. We had a good time there. The place is decent, just not worth the price. I tried loading photos of what I described but they don't want to load to Trip Advisor for some reason.

This is not a review I'm happy to write. We've been coming to Costa Rica for years and usually carve out some time to go to Samara, our favorite spot. Every time we are in Samara we make a point of staying at the Samara Tree House Inn. This will be our last time staying there. Let me start out by saying that the staff at the property is wonderful. Everyone we encountered is warm and friendly and ready to assist in any way. This has been our experience the other times we've stayed there. The people working at the property are all amazing. The problem is that the interiors of the treehouses are terrible. We noticed two years ago that the buildings were a bit dated and in need of updating. Unfortunately, things have only gotten worse. Tiles missing off the walls in the bathrooms, broken off towel bars, bathroom fan that doesn't work, terribly stained sinks, termite dust, ants literally in the bed (lots of them!!). And the wifi was horrible. Is it that difficult to get a proper wifi modem for the property? I could get Samara wifi across the street at Samara Sushi but not in my treehouse. This property is in need of serious renovations to maintain the status of being one of the best places in Samara This property is for sale and I'm just assuming the owner doesn't want to put any money into the property. It's shame because they literally have the best view in town. It is an amazing property but I could no longer recommend it to others. Such a shame.

We took a 3 night mini vacation to Samara & had a great relaxing time. This inn is within a very short walking distance of all the good restaurants. There is a small grocery across the street. It was wonderful to be able to watch the ocean from our room or the hammocks below. The staff was helpful & the room was very clean. Parking was a little tight for our truck so that could be an issue if the hotel was full. I hope to have a return visit soon.

I cannot say enough good things about the Tree Tree Inn. We stayed here about 6 years ago and on our trip back to Costa Rica last month, we made it a point to stay in all new destinations (we like to spend 1-2 nights in various places in the Nicoya and Arenal areas), but we HAD to spend one more night at the Tree House Inn. It is one of the few places ON the beach. The cabins (on stilts) are wonderful. You have fantastic views of the surf from your "living room". You have everything you need if you wanted to spend a week or more here, from a well equipped kitchenette to a grill. There is a small grocery store right across the street. We walked there for beer and meet to grill. Breakfast is included each more and it's always delicious. Samara is a small developed town with lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. It's a definite tourist destination, but not overrun and not as Americanized as some of the other coastal towns that have lost their charm. I highly recommend a visit and to stay at the Tree House Inn.
