Arrived in Samara in the evening and the other hotel we had booked had no record of our booking! Fortunately, the staff at Montelaguna were able to find a way to accommodate our need for two rooms and we are so very happy that they did! The rooms, common areas, proximity to the wonderful Playa Carillo, food and staff made us feel relaxed and delighted that a mistake brought us to this paradise and we stayed for several days. We definitely are looking forward to returning.
We spent one week here and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is clean with a awesome swimming pool. The location is outstanding with Carrillo beach on one side and Samara on the other. Samara beach is a few minute walk from the hotel and boasts gorgeous sunsets. The food is excellent, we ate all 3 of the meals and they were really good. The breakfast included has lots of choices of fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, pancakes and some tasty Tico dishes. What really makes this place is having “Luigi” running the dining area. What a hard working, awesome guy. He made our stay that much more enjoyable by just being him. The hotel is very lucky to have someone like him looking after their guests. We will be back soon.
Spent 3 nights and will return, one day. Hotel is small, on a beautifully kept property. Luigi welcomed us and was so friendly and helpful. Rooms CLEAN and spacious. WI-Fi was strong and AC was cold. Our room was on 2nd floor with balcony away from pool, for privacy this may be the best pick, all others face pool. Pool area is a nice place to chill, pool is welcoming after a trip to the beach. Beautiful Carrillo beach is 5 minutes away by car. We ate at the restaurant all 3 nights. Manuel helped us each night with food and wine picks, he is an asset to the hotel, enjoyed hearing about his life and family. Food and wine were above average. Breakfast was served each morning and my only suggestion would be to make coffee serve your self, there's just too much for one person to tend to and serve coffee. All of the staff was friendly and always greeted you with a smile. This is a well kept, well run hotel. If you're looking for a place to unwind and explore the area you will not regret this as a choice.…
Stayed 3 nights. Ate in restaurant one night. Food pretty good. Breakfasts rice and beans, plantain etc hard to get juice tho. Young lad not overly keen. Same with coffee. Would have preferred a jug on the bar and self serve. Rooms well appointed with a few glitches. Why have a key for the safe and then give your keys back in each day when you leave. Replace the batteries and use the key pad on the safe as was designed. WiFi doesn’t really reach the higher numbered rooms. Pool area lovely. All in all it was for 3 nights which was perfect. Nice location part way between Samera and Corillio Louis was fun and a genial host.
