We only stayed one night, but you could easily spend more time here. The owner is friendly, the hostel has a tiny, but nice pool and the livingroom and kitchen is more a holiday home than a hostel. Very well equiped and clean. It is very close to the beach.

The owner of the hostel is a great guy, very nice and very thoughtful. The hostel is also super clean and all the employees are really kinds. The dormitory is nice with a large and clean bathroom and a big balcony with a hamac to relax. There is also a common kitchen (with every tools that you could need) and...

I've been traveling throughout Costa Rica for 2 months now staying in all kinds of places (as you can imagine) and El Cactus Hostel is by far my favorite hostel! I was in Playa Samara for 6 days and I didn't want to leave. I felt right at home at El Cactus. The owner, Pierro (I probably butchered that) was...

Everything you could want in a hostel. Hot water (finally! I know you get used to the cold-water showers, but hot water is always better). Pool. Full kitchen, living room, bathroom, etc. Pierro really offers a comfortable amount of amenities to allow you to make this place your home for a while. I ended up staying here for 3 weeks...

We had the most amazing stay at Hostel El Cactus. Pierrot (the owner) was super helpful and had a ton of info about the place, while Ilda and Mari did a fantastic job at keeping the place clean and tidy. We were there at the beginning of May and therefore got the low season rates, which was awesome value for...

We stayed in one of the private houses at the hostel, and it was amazing! Close to the beach, very clean, a small kitchen and fridge with just about anything you'd need to make your own meals, and the real bonus was having two hammocks on the front porch. The staff are very nice and helpful as well, would definitely...

A well located hostel in Samara. It is for sure not the party hostel of the town, but actually fits those looking for a serene environment. There is a mixed age group at the hostel. Even though I travelled in most of my trip in private rooms, their dorm which is quite spacious (no bunk beds), was very suitable for...
