There were a couple ladies I absolutely loved at the breakfast buffet, the pool bar guys, one of the towel ladies, the lobby bartenders and the a la carte restaurant staff with a special shout out to Ricardo! -the...
We did enjoy a few meals off property in local towns of Playa Hermosa and Playa del Coco which were affordable and delicious.
There is free WiFi throughout your villa and property so you can still stay plugged in if you need to!
Casa Chameleon is the perfect place to relax and have a great time. The hotel is simply beautiful and has the best staff. I felt safe the whole time since they have strict protocols to ensure your safety during...
... noisy, drunken tourists, but rather enjoy a quiet, peaceful stay with lovely grounds and pool, a restaurant with excellent service that serves delicious breakfast choices, and friendly, helpful, bilingual staff.
The staff is amazing helpful, friendly and welcoming, The resort itself feels secluded, but is a short 5 minute walk from Playa Hermosa, and you have access to everything.
I had great stay at Hotel Kokomo! I only stayed one night on my way to visit some national parks. The private cabin was roomy and clean. Waking up to the sounds of the rainforest was awesome! The hotel had really nice hot springs that were super relaxing. The only downside was that the restaurant was closed in the evening because of the off-season. I highly recommend these Eco-villas!
Dennis the owner is very friendly and helpful. He runs a small hotel with rooms on top of his residence. Things to keep in mind: Pros We awoke to watch howler monkeys and many different types of birds in the trees less than 5 feet from our room. We had an amazing view of the beach. Our three night stay cost less than one night in any other hotel or villa (and we were there during Costa Rica's "little summer" break). Dennis was a great host and makes amazing coffee! Cons This is costa rica and there will be bugs and geckos. We had red ants and geckos in our room as a result of our proximity to the trees. The road to this place is very steep and unpaved. If you go during rainy season beware of driving down the hill it's kind of scary, especially at night. The kitchen/ranchito is a pretty rustic/not well kept setup and we chose not to cook here. On the brite side we had Air Conditioning, Clean Bathrooms and two large beds. I only recommend this place for backpackers and people used to roughing it. It's a great value for the area but make sure your expectations aren't too high, this is not your average hotel with amenities but its a decent place to lay you head at night.…
Hotel is overall not too bad, its a short walk from the beach up a steel hill, but the hotel is accomadating to mid price range/budget travelers. The Room had everything we needed and was clean. The owner Dennis was very helpful in finding tours and making reccomendations. We ranked our stay at a "B" Overall.
Villa Kokomo is set in the hills above Playa Hermosa, off a dirt road. Dennis, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are above the residence, with a great view of the hills and the ocean. The rooms were not fancy, but definitely clean and comfortable. There is a patio area on the ground floor, with a stove and sink for cooking, if you don't want to eat out. Great for someone on a budget but who still wants something comfortable. I would stay here again.
