Very nice retreat that has a perfect blend of a rainforest and beach feel. Both the food and staff were excellent! The Guanacasteco for breakfast is a must! The room was nice and accommodating for the price. Our bathroom countertop was small and would not hold all our toiletries.
My sister and I booked a trip to CR at the last minute and decided to change our original booking that we had at a hotel up the beach to this one based on the pictures alone. We were NOT disappointed!! We LOVED it here! First things first is the AWESOME hospitality and the constant pleasantries. We were able the check in with no hiccups. Our room was the garden view and I was INSTANTLY in love! It looked as though you were suspended in the trees from the window views. The room itself was amazing and the fact that our room was cleaned EVERY DAY that we were there was a HUGE plus! Kudos to the hotel for scheduling our transportation to one of our excursions (Diamante Eco Park); there was a bit of a hefty fee but it was worth it. Also, kudos to Jorge during happy hour! He made the most amazing drinks!! and was SO nice!!!! The beach was great because the time of year we went, there were hardly any people on the beach. We were able to walk to a couple of restaurants up the way and we were happy about that. Overall we LOVED this place!!! The ambiance was so tranquil and peaceful...However, I have to be honest and state that they need to hire a new chef/cook for the onsite restaurant. The food was not great at all and so we ended up walking to nearby eateries as well as eating on our schedule excursions - we booked excursions WITH transportation to and from the hotel at the Rio Celeste Waterfall, the Marlin Del Rey catamaran (which we LOVED) and the Diamante Eco Park zip lining! We LOVED THAT TOO!!!! Also, the hotel service was STELLAR as far as helping us to schedule our antigen test before flying back to the states; they had a company come to our hotel room which was very convenient. One last thing: (and this was NOT the hotels fault) - #1 - there was a panty liner on the jacuzzi, (it wasn't soiled) but, we notified the front desk and they took care of it; there needs to be signs about feminine items in the pool or jacuzzi - I was shocked because this is such a beautiful hotel and why someone would enter the jacuzzi on their time of the month baffled me. #2 - if you have kids PLEASE keep a watchful eye on them. My sister and I had an amazing stay until the last night when we were in the jacuzzi; there were kids up on the 3rd floor of the lobby that over looked the jacuzzi and they were throwing food into the jacuzzi; I notified the front desk and they took care of it ( I believe) - I strongly suggest that the hotel have a sign or protocol that states that children should be accompanied by an adult after 7 or 8pm in the hotel and specify no running and loud noises after a certain time....because the parents of the kids were no where around and these kids were running all over the lobby, up and down the stairs and making lots of noise with no supervision as well (about 5 of them). There seriously needs to be a protocol for this, because for those who want peace and quiet during the evening should be able to have that on vacation.…
If you are looking to unwind, relax and rejuvenate, this is truly the place to be. The rooms are spacious and very clean, the ocean view rooms were awesome especially at night when you can hear the ocean waves which added to you having a very restful nights sleep. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Covid protocols were in place and I felt safe and protected. Carlos and Jorge are the very best and went out of their way to make our stay special and memorable. The food was really good and the drinks were great as well! With a combination of nature and the beach, it made for a very special trip and the best of both worlds. Love this resort and will return.
What you expect in a hotel priced 25 USD per night, you do not expect in 250 USD/night one. Dirty rooms, lack of hot water in the shower, smelly jacuzzi, cold water in the hotel pool. Terrible restaurant - we had to sent back the food to the kitchen first time ever (we got raw, unprepared meat).
This boutique hotel is a gem! From the moment we arrived we received the most attention and care. Our room was lovely and spacious; our beach view and access was idyllic, meals scrumptious. The monkeys, iguanas, and birds inhabited the trees around which this beautiful hotel is built. Shout out to Mauricio, Shirley, and Carlos for the TLC! Coco Beach is busy & touristy. Playa Hermosa is scenic, safe, and relaxing. We highly recommend Hotel Bosque del Mar!
