Another wonderful trip to the Hotel El Velero (our 8th time!!). We were thrilled to see all the beautiful upgrades recently done to the hotel... although we've always thought it was perfect. The El Velero boasts amazing food, steps from the beach, the best staff and a central location ideal for any day excursion you could hope to do. You...

Well located, but some rooms are really poor, dark and old. Not switable for the incoming open water swimming events, (Condocac & Papagayo) since instead of pasta, the saturday night dinner at the Velero deals with unvariable heavy fried bbq food

Directly on beach. Rooms very adequate with air conditioning - great value for hotel directly on beach. Very friendly staff. Hermosa is active but not overcrowded beach. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance but not overcrowded like Tamarindo and Coco.

No need to pay more. It's right on the beach. The food is excellent. Service is just fine. Why go anyplace else? Pool is small. Talked to one couple who come yearly and eat here at least twice a week. I thought it was excellent .

I stayed for 4 nights. it is a nice hotel on the beach. Good value for the area and you are able to walk directly from the hotel out on the sand. Food was good and the rooms were clean. The owner and staff were very friendly. i would stay there again if i was in the area.

After having stayed in various types of tropical properties, with no opening windows nor private patio the room, although clean and adequate, felt a little cold and sad. That said, the beach location was great and the bar a plus. The beach was not the best we've seen but for a last night it was a good quiet option. The...

We stayed one night here and thoroughly enjoyed our time! The BBQ dinner was awesome and the patio was the perfect place to relax! My husband took advantage of the beachside massage and loved it. We hope to be back!

We didn't start off on the best foot because booking.com had sold us a room with 2 beds, and Velero was unable to put us there. Instead they gave us a jr. suite, across the street from the beach, with kitchenette that we didn't need, and only one bed. But the bed was not as uncomfortable for 2 aging bodies...

We spent four days here on our honeymoon in late Feb. 2017. The staff is so friendly and it is such a cute place right on the beach. The owner, Mike, was always around to answer questions and make sure we were happy. Can't wait to return one day!
