My daughter-in-law, 2 young granddaughters (18 months & 4 1/2 years), and I just spent a most amazing month at Bahia Pez Vela Resort. The Maracuya Beach Front Restaurant food was delicious and the restaurant staff were amazing, kind, and gracious. The Resort Staff, Cesar, Abi , and all the maintenance folks were 100% helpful and so responsive and kind! It has been a great adventure and much fun! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts...the women of Villa 16!
We spent nearly 5 weeks here as a summer getaway. It's a truly lovely place. Beautiful views, amazing pool, private beach, great restaurant, and near a lot of fun things to do in CR. What made it the most amazing was the staff in reception and the restaurant. They are truly amazing people who really make you and your family feel special, even though they see so many people come and go. There is also a troop of howler monkeys who come and go. We got lucky and they were hanging out in the trees near the beach a couple times. There's never a guarantee to see them up close, but you can hear them in the distance. A couple things to note - having a rental car is really helpful. It's about 15 min to the main street in Coco, or you'll pay a lot for vans to come pick you up for excursions or taxis to come get you (not in the greatest condition). Also, the roads up to the resort are not in great shape so be prepared. We didn't have four wheel drive, but in general having four wheel drive is useful in Costa Rica if you will go off the remote beaches or explore the mountains.…
Loved my stay in the casita. The view was beautiful from my kitchen window. Excellent amenities. The reception staff was very helpful and I can't wait to go back! I love the pool and found the shuttle service back up the hill very helpful. Very comfortable bed and AC worked well.
Bahia Pez Vela is a pretty and secluded resort with terraces of townhomes that overlook a calm black sand beach. The resort is a short drive from Playas del Coco so having a rental car is helpful. Driving in CR is part of the adventure, after all. We mixed exploring the region by car or boat with days at the resort. The concierge staff (always responsive and helpful) arranged transportation for nights on the town in Coco. $15-20 each way for a taxi. The food and service at the Maracuya Beach Club (the resort’s bar and restaurant attached to the main pool) are exceptional. The bartender mixes terrific tropical cocktails. The staff is friendly and professional. We ate most of our meals there during our stay. Our townhome was well-equipped and included its own pool. There was plenty of space for our family to spread out. Some of the townhomes have been updated more recently than others but ours was great nonetheless. The washer dryer was nice to have and it was so easy to get food and supplies at the Automercado in Coco. Highly recommend.…
We had a great time! The landscaping is absolutely amazing. Our family of 6 had a wonderful time lounging at the beach side and cliff top pools. The staff was professional and fun! We had lunch served in our Villa and had dinner and a poolside lunch at the Maracuya Beach Club. The hills are steep and great for a good workout. Our villa offered a great view of the hillsides as well as a sunset view over the Pacific Ocean.
This was the second time we stayed at a Bahia Pez Vela villa in the past 6 months. The experience both times was amazing. The villas are beautiful, the resort is amazing and the staff of both the resort and the restaurant are outstanding. Cesar and his staff in the office were so friendly and helpful. Cesar arranged for a couples massage in the villa as well as our Covid testing. Can’t wait to return, my new happy place!!!
Fabulous time in spacious house with all the amenities of being at home. The villa offered spectacular ocean views and two pools including an infinity pool with picnic area and gorgeous sunset overlook. Security on site was amazing. Restaurant near one of the pools had delicious cocktails and food. Highly recommend the one with passion fruit. Overall a great location and lots of fun recommendations of places to visit by the owners.
The location is perfect and the staff was amazing. Especially Jacki - she took care of everything for us. Hat they say about the hike up the hill to the upper Villas is true. I would find a lower villa next time. The location to town is good with a short 10 minute drive to Coco.
My family and I spent a delightful week at Bahia Pez Vela. Our villa was spacious and comfortable, and we had the added bonus of our own pool - if you can snag one of the villas that has a personal pool, I highly recommend it! We went shopping at one of the many grocery stores in Coco, a 15-minute drive away (watch the speed bumps!) and took breakfast out in the patio as we listened to the waves and magpies came to hang out by our table. The beach and pool could not be better: warm and inviting, friendly staff checking in to see whether we needed anything. We enjoyed the delicious food at the Maracuya restaurant so much we ended up eating there just about every night, and the wait staff were efficient, solicitous, and considerate. Abi and Cesar in the office were incredibly helpful, ready to make calls on our behalf, reserve tables at the restaurant, and set up any activity. We asked them to book us massages on the beach and found them so restorative that we booked them again later that week! The weather was perfect. One day we saw and heard a troop of howler monkeys making their way through the trees. Just a wonderful week at an excellent resort. If you are thinking about this area of Costa Rica, it's a truly wonderful place to stay!…
This resort is absolutely gorgeous! The staff are so friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff were amazing as well and so nice! The views, the pool, the access to the private beach and all of the amenities were top notch. It was the people and atmosphere that I enjoyed the most. We will definitely be back.
