I had the most fantastic stay here, and can't recommend this place highly enough! The welcome here is warm and genuine - Lisa, Mario and the staff were very friendly and made me feel at home from the start. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and I was thoroughly spoilt! The food is also excellent - fresh and prepared... More

Good quality birdwatching in rainy season, supposingly also in dry season. Snowcaps, Green Thorntails, B-C Cocette, many other hummers, diverse Tanager flocks, Sunbitterns and other interesting birds at Rancho or near by. Rainy season does not stop bird activity, actually it is quite relaxing to go out in the sunny morning for birding, come back for lunch and then maybe... More

My son and I stayed at Rancho Naturalista for 2 nights in early May 2016. First of all we wished we had stayed longer as the birding opportunities in and around Rancho Naturalista are huge. The first cool experience for us was the drive up the hill to the Rancho. We highly recommend taking a 4WD vehicle. We rented a... More

Rancho Naturalista is truly a paradise on earth. Lisa and Mario are an amazing couple, and are some of the most accommodating hosts I've ever met. I felt I could ask Mario anything at all about the region and he stood ready to help. The property is in the jungle and has trails that were perfect for immersing us in... More

I can't say enough about this jewel of Costa Rica. This was a family vacation--grandparents with two families, 13 people total and it was effortless. The staff was friendly and wonderful. This is an owner run property, Lisa and Mario's hospitality and efficiency are evident everywhere. The rooms were great, there are three rooms upstairs and the view and ambience... More

My husband had set up a birding trip (with other options as well) for ourselves and 7 friends. This was our first stop for 4 days and everyone was in awe. The accommodations were excellent as was the food served. Even our non-birder friends enjoyed themselves sitting on the 2nd floor veranda watching hummingbirds flit from flowers to feeders. Ken... My daughter and I stayed at Rancho Naturalista for 4 nights at the end of our first trip to Costa Rica. The accommodations were very comfortable and the food was delicious. We enjoyed hiking around the numerous trails on the property. We also hired Harry to be our guide for several half-day trips and a night hike. All were excellent.... More

We are pleased that both you and your daughter had a great stay at Rancho Naturalista on your first trip to Costa Rica. The numerous trails on the property really are good for hiking and for birding. Although the hummingbird feeders had a variety of species we are sorry that the fruit feeders did not have as many birds. Sometimes... More
