It was probably a great hotel before, let me sumamrize: - facilities are old and dated. I understand last year was tough for them - Restaurant: absurd expensive prices for so so food, using the cheapest dinnerware you can imagine - Staff: this is what I don´t get. Service is bad, from reception to restaurant most of the staff seems like is permanently angry. Why? It was a bad year for tourism and you would expect great service, but this hotel is not the case Fine some other hotel, there are plenty of better hotels in this beautiful area
This is a very nice boutique hotel, surrounded by nature in a beautiful hacienda-type architecture. The staff was nice and helpful and the premises were very well-kept. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Given the quality of the services, it's a very good value for Costa Rican (usually expensive) standards. Do not dine at the restaurant, though: the food is subpar, amateurish and grossly overpriced. I would return to this lovely hotel anytime (but bring my own food).
We stayed here for two nights and would have loved to stay here for longer. The approach to the hotel is along a palm lined road and the hotel itself is a beautiful Spanish colonial style building. There is a small pool with some sun loungers and seating around it where drinks and meals can be served. The room are reasonably spacious although ours had two large beds in it which filled the space! The bathroom was very good with lovely toiletries and also a washing line which came in very useful! The staff were all friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were very good. A lovely place to stay
We stayed here two nights as we were driving from Manual Antonio to Puerto Viejo. It’s a beautiful setting driving up to this stately plantation-like estate. We were greeted prompt at the front desk with moist towels and then drinks. Our room was large with a nice size balcony but no real view. Still, it was nice to be able to seat outside. The bathroom was very large too with powerful and hot shower. Yes, some of the items in the room were worn and dated such as the drapes. And the armoire was for sale but smell musky. None of this detracted from our stay there. Enjoyed all three meals. Went horseback riding from the adjacent farm and I recommend that activity greatly. Before leaving we toured a nearby coffee farm, the Golden Bean and that’s recommended, too.
I stayed here three nights with my family. We all thought the hotel and grounds were so lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed spending our time around the pool, hot tub, the couches on the stately veranda, and exploring the trails and garden. Only thing that disappointed us was the restaurant which was overpriced for what you got. My son (3.5) loved the pool, playground, and his tour of the farm and short horseback ride with Julio on a very friendly mare. The staff was helpful, capable, and intelligent. I love that the eggs come from the garden hens. ;) It would have been even better had the hotel cleared an easy entrance to the lagoon and provided some form of water craft like a canoe or SUP boards. It’s too bad we couldn’t play on the water. The hotel did organize a white water raft trip for my mom and I and we loved it! My parents had a junior sweet and the balcony overlooking the lake was lovely. The best part of their room was the bathroom. Beautifully designed, big clean hot tub, classic stone tile. Our standard room was very comfortable and cozy but felt spacious because of the high ceiling. The beds were the most comfortable we’ve had in CR yet!…
