We stayed at Casa Luna for 2 days to experience Arenal. The boutique, eco-hotel has an immaculate property with a pool, and multiple hot tubs. We enjoyed views of the volcano from our hotel patio. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. The stay included a free breakfast at the Luna Grill. The options included pancakes, bacon, omelets and fruit plate. We had planned to eat out at other restaurants but ended up enjoying the amazing menu, including farm to table veggies, fruits and fresh fish ponds from the property, so much we ate at the Luna Grill every night. The property is located 3 miles from the famous La Fortuna waterfall and 5 minutes drive to La Fortuna city center. It was a great stay!
We really liked this property. First of all the pool area was really nice, and hardly anyone there - we were start of rainy season so maybe it just wasn't full. But beautiful and peaceful. We didn't check out the hot tubs, the pool was just fine. The trail around the property is a nice early morning hike as well. There are lizards and frogs and all kinds of birds around the property which is very gorgeous. Rooms are nice and decent size. the only complaint is you can't open the windows to a screen to hear nature...but I'm sure there's a reason, maybe birds or something? Please do NOT even flush toilet paper in the toilet or it will clog...use the provided trash receptacle which has a lid for a reason. It's not a big deal, we've seen this in other foreign countries. The Wifi in the common area works well, the staff are all friendly and helpful, and it was a nice quiet stay in a comfortable bed. Was close proximity to town and the tours we were doing as well - very close to Arenal Oasis and La Fortuna waterfall. We didn't try the restaurant as we wanted to experience local places in town, but it looked decent.…
We booked our room through Orbitz. After a month, I followed up with the hotel directly. Turns out, they do not have queen beds as Orbitz stated and I upgraded directly with the hotel to the Jr Suite. When we arrived they didn’t have the room. They offered a free dinner for compensation, but we specially wanted a queen or king bed for the height of my partner. Had to cancel and go elsewhere.
This is a great place to stay if you want to see nature right outside your patio door. The room was large and clean. We had a Luna Superior room and it was very nice. The beds were comfortable. We sat out side on our patio most of the time and watched birds all afternoon when not in the pool or outdoor hot tubs. There were 4 Hydro pools as they call them and each one was a different temperature. The pool bar delivers your drink to your pool. The only down side was there was no place to sit in the room except on the bed. The front staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant on site served breakfast in record time, this was important as many of the tours started at 8 am or so. Dinner were huge and very good. You got our money's worth .
Very comfortable hotel with nice rooms, lovely garden and pool area with secluded outdoor hot tubs. The food was good and reasonably priced. Professional staff who were efficient and friendly. Comfortable beds and good bathrooms. We recommend.
This was not our first choice of places to stay in La Fortuna but it turned out to be excellent! Our room was big with lots of amenities and a balcony overlooking Arenal volcano. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pool has some places that need re-tiling but it is still a good place to swim. We ate twice in the restaurant and had good food. Breakfast was also good. It would have been helpful to have breakfast start earlier as two days we had tours that started before the restaurant was open. We got "breakfast boxes" in lieu of the meal but the restaurant was much better.
Great place to stay for all ages. Beautiful location with a lot of wildlife. My wife took more pictures of birds at the hotel than we saw on some of our excursions. The staff was very friendly. The restaurant served a nice variety of food at a reasonable price. If you plan on spending time exploring the town, recommend that you rent a car since most activities are not within walking distance though cabs are readily available.
Hotel amenities lovely and rooms really nice, hot showers water and coffee in room a welcome sight. The restaurant needs work, not enough waiting staff, as for breakfast a real disappointment. The chefs can’t cook a boiled egg. Americans breakfast first day no sausages! Second day the same breakfast came with sausages. All in all 3 out of 5 as waiting staff not very good and website is outdated. As there is no happy hour, as stated on the website
Flawless resort/spa. Every single person who worked at this establishment genuinely cared about giving you a good experience. Even the design of the construction and floor layout of the facilities ensured that every room had a view of the volcano. Beautiful nature walk, incredible spa and massages (feels like you're getting a massage in the jungle! But so clean, lol). The restaurant food was excellent. Laundry service fast. I could have lived here. Honestly, I think I'd even be happy working here! The grounds are full of birds and beautiful plumed basilisks. There was even a bird's nest visible in the vegetation right below our balcony with three little speckled eggs in it with an attentive mama. The rooms were impeccable. I would go back here in a heartbeat. I have cross posted this from Google in the hopes that it will help raise their rating/slot in Trip Advisor. They should be way higher!…
Great hotel for the price. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. I really enjoyed the large balcony we had. It was a great place to relax. I saw some negative comments about the hotel restaurant and breakfast, but I was more than satisfied with what they had to offer. If you are expecting a 5 star fancy resort, this is not it. It’s a clean and nice hotel with nice pool and hot tub amenities. My friend and I tried the volcanic mud massage which was also nice and well priced (compared to the US).
