My husband and I just returned from a 2-night stay at Kokoro. The owner, Peggy, is the main reason I give Hotel Kokoro 5 stars. We arrived with only a vague idea of what we might do there. Peggy spent a lot of time explaining the options, making calls to check on availability and pricing. and setting up all the tours for us. She recommended the Bogarin Trail and set it up so we toured with one of the Bogarin sons, Eduardo. Pure delight! Her son, Long, gave us rides to and from everything. Long even recommended a good seafood restaurant, the best place we ate at in La Fortuna! We enjoyed Cabin 8. It was plenty large for 2 of us. The bathroom was huge and the hot water plentiful. We loved the fact the hotel was set miles away from the hubbub of La Fortuna. (I would avoid La Fortuna unless you enjoy a tourist trap, huge-hotel vibe.) Peggy's place is very serene, quiet and offered a lot of privacy. The last day due to a miscommunication, we unhappily ended up having to leave the hotel hours before I had planned. Peggy packed us a bag with water, juice and granola bars, and insisted we and our driver eat breakfast. Peggy was extremely kind and went way way way beyond the call of duty to ensure we felt okay —- even though the mistake had nothing to do with her. Hotel Kokoro, Peggy and Long are good reasons to visit La Fortuna. They will make sure your visit is fun-filled and hassle free!

Hotel Kokoro is set up on a hillside with a direct view of the volcano, when there is no cloud cover. Our room was half of a two-room bungalow; it had a fridge, ceiling fan, A/C, mosquito net, TV, safe, basket with amenities, but no coffee maker. The shower was spacious, but water pressure wasn’t very strong. The grounds were beautiful and furnished with a sizable swimming pool and a natural hot spring that you could soak in. Our room had a queen bed which was quite comfortable, but the twin bed in the corner was in need of replacement, as you could feel metalwork through the top fabric. Drinks are available in a glass-fronted cooler in the reception area. It is not locked and you just have to let the staff know what you took. Hopefully, all future guests will be honest so the staff doesn’t have to begin locking it; it was really nice to be able to access the drinks once in a while. All the people working there were very friendly and accommodating. We’d definitely stay there again if in the area.

We loved the location, the room, the food , the pool and the hot springs! We really liked that we had our own cabin , with big bedroom and big bathroom. Quite enough space to rest after a full day visiting the area. Awesome views from our cabin porch. We enjoyed a nice free warm cup of tea in the evening playing guitar. I guess the only downsize was the Wifi signal which was very weak in our cabin. Otherwise everything was perfect.

This small family-run lodging has spacious cottages that are mostly strung across a ridge, with stunning views of Volcan Arenal. The hot mineral pools, hot waterfalls and beautiful swimming pool are delightful, and the grounds are lovely and well-maintained. All the staff was courteous and helpful, and the owner Peggy generously advised us of local attractions.

This property is beautiful with views of the volcano and is a quiet oasis yet close enough to all that La Fortuna has to offer. The cabins are comfortable and just rustic enough to add to the experience of being in this beautiful area. We enjoyed the springs and pool area as well. The staff go above and beyond and would highly recommend this lovely property to those wanting lodging that is not a typical hotel.
