The Arenal Springs Resort & Spa is celebrated for its exceptionally friendly service, though it's not without occasional critique. While the resort's atmosphere is warm and inviting, particularly for special occasions, some guests feel an update in decor is needed. The hot springs and pool amenities receive high praise, as does the resort's cleanliness, with the natural surroundings adding to the charm.
However, reviewers frequently mention that the offerings, including food and activities, come at a premium. Room comfort is applauded, yet a few guests suggest improvements in soundproofing could enhance the experience.

Detailed Reviews
Amazing service and location! It felt like we had our own apartment in Arenal. Best breakfast spread at any of the three hotels we stayed at. The hot springs are amazing and my kids loved them. Read in the hammocks . Walk the property and have a coffee do free morning yoga or take a dip. All great ways to start the day. Then Head out for an adventure ! The front desk will help you with any needs you have. The swim up bar was great and so were the onsite restaurants (male reservations each day for dinner) .My kids loved the towel animals left by housekeeping. We really enjoyed the shower in our room and how we could hear the rain falling . The best hotel in the area! It is only a $10 taxi ride to La Fortuna and most days when we had activities off site we just had our driver drop us in town and save the fee.

We had a really great experience here. Everyone was polite, courteous, and friendly from the moment we arrived. They are taking precautions for COVID-19: there are hand washing stations all over and they took our temperature when we arrived. All staff are wearing masks at all times and guests are required to wear them in public spaces (except the pool). Dining is open air, which is very nice.
Our room was nice and comfortable. I read other reviews where some people were upset about small bugs and such, and we have seen a few tiny gnats but that's it. You're in the middle of the rainforest, what do you expect? I was actually surprised we didn't see more bugs! Everything has been clean and it looks like it is well taken care of. We had a great view of Arenal Volcano from our room.
They have a couple of options for food, a sushi bar, a bar serving burgers and snacks, and a nicer dining option that serves mostly Italian food. The food is a bit pricey in my opinion, but I expect things to be pricier when you stay at a resort. Everything we had was pretty delicious, the sushi was surprisingly good.
The hot springs pools and cold pool are nice for soaking and relaxing. The place seems pretty family friendly, they have a small playground for kids near the pool.
They are running a limited Spa menu right now, but do offer some services. Massages are also pretty open air as well.
Overall, we can't find anything to complain about and would stay here again. :)

We stayed for two nights and not one bad experience or complaint. The check in was amazing with cold aromatic hand towels to freshen up and a delicious fruit drink. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. We were steps away from the Yoga area, hammocks, and the first pool. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and immaculent. I can't even begin to describe the amazing food. We met Aida, the morning chef, and she graciuosly described the delicious Panamanian chili sauce on the buffet. The poolside sushi and cafe items were so delicious. The prices for this amazing food was reasonable for the quality. We have stayed at other hot spring hotels before, but this one is our new "repeat". I am a fan and am spreading the word to my friends.

I am the trip planner for the group (two couples). I booked this several months ahead of time and was nervous...not sure why.
Finally got there after 8 days on the beach and the heat. Our cottages were a pleasant surprise. Nothing real fancy but nice beds and clean. We got a "superior" room which included two meals, breakfast and lunch, in the hotel restaurant. The food was over-all pretty good. A fixed dinner menu so if you were going to stay here for a longer time (we were three nights) that would be an issue. Breakfast was a buffet and was fine.
Best story was on the adjunct zip line. There 4 "kids" (20's) that were with the four of us. To make a long story short, before the final zip line, one of the guys told me he was going to propose to his girlfriend at the bottom. I told our group so everybody knew, except, of course the GF.
The guides kept her to last and he was waiting on one knee when she came down, upside down. It took her a while to figure it out. Very sweet. We ended up hanging with them for the rest of the day and having dinner.
Hot springs are nice. Not real big but that was ok as there were quite a few.
Next time back, we plan to return for a few more nights.
One not positive comment. There is a dance club close to the far end where we were staying. It was a couple of hundred meters away, but the bass went on until 2 am. Get up away from the road or closer to the main lobby.

Our junior suite with two beds was beautiful and spacious, half of a 2-unit stand alone “cottage” surrounded by lush lawn and gardens, with a front patio and gorgeous view directly facing Arenal Volcano - though the clouds never entirely lifted in the three days we were there. Our room safe was broken when we arrived, but the staff replaced it when we asked. Food at various restaurants/snack bars was pretty good with generous portions, and the included breakfast buffet was very good with an omelet station, fresh fruit and yogurt, many hot and cold choices. It had the feel of an all inclusive resort with several pools and wonderful thermal spring pools, a swim up bar, etc. It was a bit too far to walk into the closest town of La Fortuna, but we were told it was US $10 taxi ride. There was an on-site small gift store with souvenirs and some toiletries available. The front desk was professional and good at managing the many tour operators who came to pick up guests for local excursions. Overall, this was a great base for the three days we spent in the area.

We came to this resort for a family members wedding, without our kids. While children are allowed on the resort, there's not a ton for them to do, so I would recommend this for couples only. Upon arrival after a 2 1/2 hour shuttle ride, we had just missed the breakfast service in the restaurant, but they were more than willing to serve us whatever we wanted since the staff was still there. So nice after a long day of travel!
The food is very fresh and I couldn't get enough coffee! You won't be disappointed.
There are a variety of pools to choose from on the grounds. Since it's right by the volcano, you have various natural hot springs, beginning with the hottest pool, followed by one that's a little cooler that then pours into a large pool that has two swim up bars and plenty of space to lounge in. There's a normal "pool temp" pool adjacent as well as a hot tub and then a cold pool if you're into that. My wife and I spent most of our time between the different hot springs, and sat by the pool to eat fresh sushi and other lunch options.
The rooms are excellent, even our smaller room had a chair to sit in and a nice sized bathroom with a glass ceiling making you feel like you're still out in the jungle.
I can't say enough about the people that work there and the service they provide. Don't expect things to be very cheap, but they'll do whatever you need to make your trip the best.

We had an excellent three nights at the Arenal Springs Resort. We were two couples and two children. Upon arrival we were greeted with a drink and cold towels. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The resort is a great place to spend a few days to unwind. Yoga is offered every morning at 6:30 am. If lounging by the multitude of pools and hot spring isn’t your thing, there is a lovely reading area (with a light for evenings) and hammocks as well as a few more lounge areas by the towel station. There is a great little playground for children. Everything was so well kept and in immaculate condition. Like others have said, if you don’t have a rental car, you’ll need to take a taxi to spend time off the resort. We did walk to an animal refuge not far from the resort and that was a very reasonable walk even with two small children. There is a desk to book offsite excursions and the gentleman who helped us was really informative. If you don’t book through them (my understanding is their rates were pretty much the same as booking through an agent in La Fortuna) you can get a taxi to take you to the Mystico hanging bridges $30 or Arenal Volcano 1968 $25 or La Fortuna $10.
The rooms were spacious and very clean. The whole resort was very well kept, no signs of wear. Breakfast is also included and offered a great selection of hot and cold options.
Definitely good value for money and would highly recommend this location.

This seemed like the cheesy overprice Costa Rica accommodation for the stay. While the resort was a lovely place, it did appear to have a tinge of Las Vegas to everything. The hot springs and pool area is really nice. We stayed three nights and paid a premium for this place, but seemed to get one of the worst rooms. All rooms x03 are adjacent to the main road and are often noisy due to through traffic of people and staff, and room 503 is the worst as its orientation, and lack of any vegetation meant the room was very exposed and you had to have the curtains always closed.
The buffet while looking large, did not offer a wide selection of items, and often servings were very small.
On the plus side, this place had the best WiFi of any place we stayed, and we were even able to make VoIP calls reliably back home.

The staff are knowledgeable a d friendly and all understand English. The resort is gorgeous with native plants and birds a d beautiful gardens. The free breakfast was too class with American and Costa Rican fare. The rooms are open and airy and I’ve never seen a larger shower with live plants and a skylight. The pool and hot springs with swim up bar and sushi are awesome and fabulous with more private and more social spaces for every taste It is luxurious without being stuffy. Would highly recommend to families as well as couples.

Everything you would expect from a nice hotel/ resort. Our room was at the end of the resort area and it was not inconvenient because the staff were really helpful about driving you on a golf cart. Staff were always smiling and helpful. Pool bars were nice. Since they have dont have any day visitors, pool areas were nice and empty. Never had to worry about not having a lounger near the pool.
The resort itself is about 15 mins away from the main town(La Fortuna) and it would be more convenient if you have a car. Or a simcard since Uber is available. Saw an older couple in price shock for hotel arranged transportation.
But my family did 2 excursions and ate well in the hotel restaurants while we stayed for 3 nights.
