I stayed in the Frog house, which is the closest to the road. It was enclosed and had air conditioning, a small fridge a bottle of liquid soap for hand washing and nice bar soap for bathing. There aren't any little bottles of stuff. Having...More
This was my second stay at the Tree Houses and it was just as wonderful as I remembered it four years ago! Jess and Carolina are amazing managers and were super responsive from the moment we booked to our bittersweet goodbyes. They accommodated for food...More

My daughter and I fell in love with this place immediately. It was amazing to just hang out and sleep amongst the trees! Our breakfast was the best (a crisp fried banana topped with refried beans, scrambled eggs, and a delicious salsa, served with fresh...More
The ambiance of the tree house experience is amazing. The facility is unique, authentic feeling, beautiful, and well-maintained.
My mediocre experience was based on management, not the facility.

Tree Houses Hotel is a bed and breakfast hotel conveniently located off the main road that runs through La Fortuna and around the Arenal Volcano. We are a short 25 minute drive to the high tourist area. ...MorePeople seek us out with that in mind, to be away from it all but close enough to enjoy all the fun adventure the La Fortuna, Arenal Volcano area has to offer. We have just 5 tree houses (each very private) on 8 acres and we are surrounded by a 70 acre wildlife refuge with a waterfall, pools to swim and a beautiful river. Each tree house features A/C, warm water showers, refrigerators and safes. There are few hotels like this in the world and none other in Costa Rica. There is something so very exciting about spending the night high in the forest canopy, wildlife all around you, safe and cozy in a tree house hotel in Costa Rica. Less

Really depends where you are coming from or going to for flights. You can get to Manuel Antonio in a 1 day drive, but it will take most of the day. I do not recommend Jaco for kids that age if you want to see the beach. I'm not familiar with the beaches further north along that coast. It would be worth researching Punta Morales or Punta Arenas. They'd be closer than Manuel Antonio and easier to get to.
Other option is to head around to Monteverde (cloudforest) but your kids are likely too young to really enjoy a lot of that, and beach would be more fun.
