This is a really lovely place- the staff was great and the room we had was more than we expected. We booked a private three person room and were surprised to see an air conditioner and a well appointed bathroom- the shower had good hot...More
I thought the price I paid (only $13/night) was wrong when I checked in. This place was like a five-star resort. Very clean. Great hang-out area. Huge comfy mattresses. Close to town. Great pool. Lush grounds. No complaints.

I heard the shuttle was $50, but stayed in San Jose two days and took bus to backpackers. The La Fortuna Station was 2.5 hours from San Jose 7-10 station (at the corner of 7th and 10th avenue), I think it was $14 dollars. Could have been less. Google terminal7-10 for the schedule. Arneal Backpackers is 100 meters west on the main road from the station.
