The women's only dorm room was cramped with no windows. Stay in the co-ed ones, they are bigger. Tour staff was really helpful, the reservation staff, not so much. Its further outside of town. Lots of self-contained groups so while it is busy, not the...More

We were 8 people and loved this place. Staff were helpful, the common area is nice and it looks like a small resort. The pool close late at night. Good drinks, good deals. Volleyball court. One of the best hostel i've been to.

Had a great time here while staying in La Fortuna. Great location! The rooms are small, but clean. The food and drink is priced very fairly and the meals are quite delicious. I'd highly recommend it to the budget traveller.

Located on the edge of the main part of La Fortuna. Short walk into town. Private rooms aren't that great, kinda felt like a run down motel room. No hooks, floor mats, and only 1 shelf, despite the room being massive. The "road" in front...More

I loved this place. This was by far the best accommodation in Costa Rica trip. This place is specially great for solo travelers as you get to meet so many fellow travelers here and next thing you know is you are best friends. The staff...More

I heard the shuttle was $50, but stayed in San Jose two days and took bus to backpackers. The La Fortuna Station was 2.5 hours from San Jose 7-10 station (at the corner of 7th and 10th avenue), I think it was $14 dollars... More

The check-in staff do leave at ten, and after that there's really just one overnight staff member to make sure the people coming in late at night have wristbands. If you're arriving late into San Jose (or elsewhere) I'd... More

I was quite disturbed to read all of the review which say the check in time is terrible! We are checking in on Saturday and really do not want to waste time in a long check in line. How can we avoid the wait? AND, why does a 5 star hotel have an unreasonably long check in time???? Also, I was disturbed to read about the noise from the night club. I am a very very light sleeper and any noise will keep me awake. What room numbers to you recommend that as very quiet? Is there a fridge in the room?
