The Roca Negra is a beautiful little hotel about 2 km from La Fortuna city. It is in a garden setting with a hot tub, a pool, loads of birds and a few friendly rescue dogs. The staff are exceptional and well informed and very willing to help and advise. There is a $7 breakfast available and is in a...

I actually visited in May of 2015 but I was not able to go that far back. My friend and I stayed here for a few nights and we absolutely loved it. The grounds are gorgeous, like a giant garden. The room was big and clean and also had AC. The reception lady was so nice and helpful. They booked...

We emailed about reservations but never got a response back (make sure to call them to book your stay). The garden walkways are beautiful and lead directly up to your front porch where you can rock in giant comfortable rocking chairs or swing in a hammock. The giant stone shower was an added bonus! The hotel can book any adventures...

Rocha Negra is a real gem. A charming boutique hotel set in beautiful gardens with a lovely little swimming pool and even a games room with a pool table. It only has 9 rooms so is very quiet and peaceful. It has a great view of the Arsenal volcano. All the rooms have a private terrace with extremely comfortable rocking...

I just got back from my trip around Costa Rica, and I wanted to be sure to write a note in regards to Hotel Roca Negra. The grounds are smaller than most hotels, but they are beautiful! The grounds have luscious flowers and plants all around! The view of the volcano is spectacular! The room is quite simple, but it...

Stayed here only one night, but both my friend and I wish it could have been longer. The grounds are beautiful with lovely garden and plants. Loved all the animals, songbirds, chickens and dogs. Room was spacious and clean. Beds were very comfortable.,we slept like a dream. Shower was hot, although water pressure is so-so. Hair dryer provided. Very comfortable...

We stayed here for 3 nights and found it a brilliant place to stay and a great location. It's about 2km from la fortuna. But there are really nice places to eat within walking distance. The owner Elizabeth is very welcoming, helpful and funny. The place is very clean and well looked after. I would definitely recommend staying here as...

Just staying our final night at Hotel Roca Negra & thought I'd say a few words before we leave. Had a great stay here... couldn't fault a thing (well perhaps the birds each morning waking you up - but that's nature & I could think of worse ways of waking up)!! The room we stayed in was spacious, we stayed...

We booked this hotel last minute as we wanted to be closer to La Fortuna. I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. Firstly, I must mention the warm welcome we received when we checked in and when we checked out the following day. Such friendly, lovely hosts. I think what makes this place is the beautiful...

My title sums it up! Also there is a lovely clean pool and jacuzzi. Breakfasts are not included in the price but they are available and are excellent. Overall we really loved this little place, especially because it was away from the crowded town and on the beautiful road to the volcano. Our host Elizabeth was helpful about places to...
