The flowers and birds we saw just walking from our room to the front desk were breathtaking. The hotel's attention to detail is awesome, their breakfast is delicious, the open air restaurant and lobby are enchanting. We got lucky one day when all the clouds cleared up and got an amazing view of the smoking volcano. Rooms are not luxurious...

Now granted we went during christmas time, which just so happens is the pinnacle of the high season and with corresponding room prices. I spent only one night here. The rest of the stay was at the "Lost Iguana Resort" which was a very different experience than this hotel. Hotel property: Cons--Fluorescent white lights in room, muggy, quite a few...

We loved the place! Nice, clean, spacious rooms, excellent attention in details on behalf of the front desk, bar, restaurant and room staff. And the hot springs, lovely and beautifully clean! They provide maintenance to the srpings every day which make the pools (can't stress it enough) clean and comfortable. We are definitely going back!!!!!!!

For an officially 3 star hotel, I thought the overall quality was close to 4 stars. We got a Junior Suite. A basket of snacks and a bottle of wine, champagne and two beers were waiting for us. I could tell the furnishing wasn't the highest quality and I didn't like the fluorescent lights in the room, but it got...

Our room had a private hot spring in the back with a view of the volcano which was just amazing! This is a luxury hotel and resort by Costa Rican standards. I would rate it closer to a 3.5 or 4 star resort. The room and bathroom are very nice and comfortable. The restaurant is mediocre. The bar and reception...

We spent 3 nights at this property and we really enjoyed it. There was a direct view of the volcano from our back patio on our own traditional rocking chairs. Phone was positively left on bed of our room and not returned. Lodge claims they cannot find it. Hotel staff was friendly and accomodating. The pricing in restaurants and shopping in this area is based on tourist traveling though and therefore are higher than the more local areas. Restaurants called "Soda" are localized and generally cheaper and provide larger portions.
