I stayed here as part of my CR tour with Exoticca. Upon arrival, the long bumpy road away from the town, does not give the greatest impression, but once there, all that changes! Check in was welcoming and efficient. I was transported by golf buggy up to my room - it was a small wooden lodge-type building with a veranda at the front and a balcony to the rear. The room and its location was stunning, as I had a great view of the volcano outside my door! I ate each night in the restaurant, food & cocktails were of a really high standard and good value for money. I made use of the swimming pool area when I had time to relax, which was really nice. The breakfast offering was also good, with lots of choice. All in, a fabulous stay, would highly recommend

What can I say....a dream place to stay! We enjoyed every moment here. It's close to all the excursions and overlooks the magnificent volcano. waking up in the morning surrounded by the nature is just incredible. The individual bungalows are top class.... Clean, modern, comfortable with countless hummingbirds and butterflies around the gardens. The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. The bar is perfect for drinks and serves really good food. Really tasty breakfasts too. It's about a 20 minute walk into the main town centre with plenty of restaurants and souvenir shops I'd totally recommend this place

The hotel staff was very kind and helpful. They helped us figure out excursion details and even Josie at the front desk helped bandage up a cut I got out on a tour. The hotel is also so beautiful. The volcano view is incredible. The water pressure and temperature in the room was great! Thats always a big plus for me!

We had a wonderful stay at Lomas del Volcan. Our family of five shared one cabin as the rooms are spacious with generous bathroom and terraces in the back and front. The children enjoyed playing in the pool which, despite all the other guests, never got too crowded. But the main reason why we recommend the hotel is the friendly family feeling from the staff, they go out of their way to give the guests a good stay. Everyone speaks English, which is helpful for us coming form non-Spanish speaking country. The hotel offer tours which can keep you busy for days, but it’s also nice to take a relaxing day (or two!) at the hotel and enjoy the beautiful view of the volcano and a nice meal from the restaurant. Enjoy your stay at the hotel - we sure did!

This is a 3 star hotel in a 4 star setting. The setting is lovely, and it is nice to have our own bungalows. It is quiet away from everything. The food is reasonably priced and adequate but not great quality, breakfast is good.. However the service is average at best (not well trained, had to ask for our room to be cleaned at 2pm when it was not done, ask for help with luggage, etc). There doesn’t appear to be any hot water for showers or the jacuzzi, the water gets warm but never reaches hot. There is no tea in the room and the coffee is an awful packet—it is fairly commercial here and everything has a price. The “trail” is not paved and becomes a mud bath when it rains. The pool goes from about 6 inches to 4 feet deep, is more for show than anything and was too cold to use when we stayed in August. The hotel is down a very long road that becomes very muddy halfway down so walking into town is not realistic. They do not offer free umbrellas like other places. I would only recommend staying here if you can get a good price in the off season and have a rental car.

Hello! Thank you for visiting us and thank you for letting us know how your experience was. We work every day to improve our services and this comment help us. We do offer free umbrellas for our guests, you just have to ask for them at the Front Desk. Sometimes our guests walk into town but if you do not want to or you can’t, you can always ask for a taxi at the Front Desk 😊 Thank you for the recommendations. Kind regards.

This was a beautiful place to stay near La Fortuna! The view of the volcano (when the clouds are clear) is unbeatable! The service we received was wonderful (shout out to Roberto!), the drinks and food were great, and the amenities were fantastic! The hotel offers a ton of activities, which we would recommend (ziplining, Tabacon Hotsprings, hanging bridges, night walk). Overall, I would highly recommend to honeymooners or families!

We absolutely loved our 3 night stay here, what a beautiful settling right in front of Arenal Volcano. The gardens and pool were beautiful, the bungalows equally so, with a private porch and balcony with a couch. Vaulted ceiling, Good air con, huge bathroom, walk in shower, hairdryer and toiletries, towels/pool towels all provided The restaurant was a beautiful building with huge oicture windows facing the volcano. We loved the food there. We saw toucan, iguana and many birds around the grounds. Staff were friendly, attentive and very professional. The only minus point was that it is a taxi ride or long walk down an unmade road to get into town but well worth that small inconvenience! The town had many shops and restaurants. All in all a wonderful place.

This hotel was soo beautiful and the staff was so incredibly generous. They gave us a free room upgrade with an amazing view of the volcano, as well as free chocolate covered strawberries and an adorable little note. There were cute towel animals waiting for us in our rooms almost everyday. They had a small hiking trail and the buffet breakfast was excellent. The view of the volcano while u ate were so cool. The pool area was also amazing, my only complaint would be the strong smell of chemicals from the hot tub. It irritated my eyes and I couldn’t stand the smell. It was enjoyable for many other guests though, so personally I might just be sensitive to it. Regardless I recommend this hotel highly, it is amazing!!!!

Hello! Thank you so much for this comment. It is important for you to know that the amount of products that we use in the pool and jacuzzi are according to the amount of water, eventhough sometimes it has a strong smell. However, we really appreciate the comment. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and we will be waiting for you. Kind regards 😄

Situated on the western side of La Fortuna and down a bumpy country road about half a mile off the main highway is a little slice of heaven for all volcano fans. My wife and I opted for the very reasonably-priced apartment-style rooms as you first drive onto the property which consisted of a small bedroom and bathroom with a shower. Our place was perfectly clean, comfortable, and had plenty of hot water. Although the view of the volcano was obscured by rain and clouds when we first arrived, we got up at drybreak the next morning to see Arenal. Oh, boy, what a magical view! We drank coffee on the front porch while watching stream drift from the summit! Afterwards, we walked around the hilly property which is full of exotic flowers taking lots of pics of the volcano before going to breakfast. The included breakfast was super and consisted of an omelette bar as well as lots of other choices - easily a $20 meal in the US. Service throughout the property was also amazing. In short, we hated to leave the place but highly recommend Lomas de Volcan!

The setting and views at this hotel are breathtaking, it is an absolute gem of a place to stay. The wildlife was amazing from the toucan that came each evening outside of our lodge to survey his territory, to the lady hummingbird that had a nest with chicks in a tree just outside the bar, to all the frogs and toads that came out when it rained. We ate lunch and dinner at the hotel and the food was good, great that you can have the same menu in the bar as the restaurant so you don’t have to get dressed up after a 5 hour hike! All of the staff were so helpful and friendly, I would return to this hotel without hesitation.
