We had a 5 star experience at a 4 star hotel! I traveled with myself, my husband, three teenagers and aunt and uncle. We had 3 rooms and stayed for 3 nights. Grounds - absolutely beautiful. Well, actually, that doesn’t quite describe how awesome the grounds were. They were well maintained with great amenities. An absolutely wonderful view of the volcano. Pools - The shining star of the resort. 2 “cool” pools with large slides that the kids loved. The adults even enjoyed a trip or 2 down the slide. The 8 warm “pools” were all fed by the hot springs and emptied every night and refilled each morning. The pools are hard to explain. See attached pictures There is one very large pool with a swim up bar. Many smaller pools up the side of the mountain that are partially obscured/made private by foliage. Easy access to bathrooms which were very clean. Rooms - a bit dated but very clean and very acceptable. Air conditioner was cool and in working order. Beds were a bit firm for my liking but we were so tired we slept just fine! My Aunt and Uncle were at the back of the property and had to call a shuttle every time they wanted to go somewhere. We were in the front building which was in walking distance to everything. I would highly recommend requesting a room towards the front of the resort. Food - breakfast is included and served at a large open air dining restaurant. Gallo pinto (beans and rice), plantains, eggs cooked to order, potato hash, charcuterie, cereals, fresh fruit and juices. Lunch at the pool bar was really good. There was a pizza with multiple pizzas and flatbreads, salad, burgers and ceviche that was the best we had in Costa Rica! We went out for dinner so I cannot comment on dinner at the restaurant. The town - La Fortuna is a short ($9) cab ride away. The front desk was happy to call the cab for you. I”ll be honest, it was not quite as happening of a place as we expected. We ventured off of the main drag a few times and quickly made our way back to more populated areas. We had several really good meals. Our favorite was Don Ruffinos. The Mahi fish special was highly praised. Other notes - (1) Nice gift/sundries shop in case you forgot anything (2) They do sell “day passes” to visit the spring fed pools but at no time did we feel like the pools were ever crowded (3) Hair dryer was sufficient (4) toiletries including shampoo/conditioner/soap were decent

The grounds of this resort were beautiful and beautifully maintained. Don't let the lobby turn you off...it looks a little dated, but the overall experience will win you over. The room was very large (wish it had a mini-frig) and clean, with a great bathroom. The various hot spring pools were worth the trip, and the regular pools and water slides kept our 6-year-old granddaughter delighted. Lots of English speakers, and the dining rooms and bars were convenient. We got trapped in the Tiki-hut bar in a torrential downpour that was amazing to see itself. ...and what better place to be trapped? The drinks were great, the service excellent, and the food excellent. We heard day guests at the Springs might be an annoyance, but we certainly saw no problems.

Room Tip: Choose the buildings near the lobby to avoid riding shuttles, or a steep climb. Also convenient...

We didn’t stay at this resort but visited for the hot springs. Arrived at 5:15pm for the evening hot springs. The experience was great, especially if you visit with family or friends. Highly recommend eating at the bar area. The hottest pool is right next to the coldest pool which is nice when switching back and forth.

We stayed for two nights at Los Lagos as we wanted to check out the La Fortuna area with its hot springs, views of the amazing Volcano, and little town. The hotel itself makes you feel like you're at Disney, with expansive grounds that are very well maintained, but still a little wild to remind you of where you are. The rooms could all use with an update (look like they were last done in the late 80s/early 90s), but do have comfortable beds, are very clean, and are laid out around the property nicely if you have a car. Our favourite feature is the volcano viewpoint at the veryyy top of the property (you have to take a short gravel road there) with incredible 360 views. Los Lagos is also only about 5 minutes on the main road to La Fortuna town centre, so everything you need is in close proximity. My partner and I are both vegan, and they didn't have great vegan options on the main menu though, with nothing on the room service menu for us. We did well at breakfast though with mixed veg, gallo pinto, plantains, and fruit.

I'm only reviewing the hot springs and dinner experience. Overall it was just ok. The atmosphere was a bit overcrowded and loud at the hot springs with more people arriving as we were leaving the pools. It really wasn't relaxing. The dinner that you can buy with the day pass was also less than exciting. We were first given the good dinner menu and then when they realized their mistake gave us the lesser day-pass menu with none of the higher quality foods and drinks. We left feeling like we should have gone to a different hot springs to close out what was otherwise a great day.

Simply an amazing resort with tropical trees and flowers everywhere. Our two rooms 405/406 had perfect views of the volcano from our balcony. What an experience sitting and gazing at the volcano in the morning. Rooms were spacious and bathroom was beautiful. Walk in shower was refreshing. The swimming pools and numerous hot spring pools were perfect and refreshing in the evening rain. The walking trail behind our rooms were a great escape through the rain forest. Our superior room had two queen beds and two pull out sleepers. We slept very well. La Palapa restaurant had a really nice and tasty Costa Rican breakfast in the morning every 6:30/7:30/8:30 that you sign up for at reception. The steak Casado was very good for diner. The swim up bar served great drinks while sitting in the hot springs. A rain jacket is essential now because it rains hard in the afternoon and at night. We used Jacamar tours booked at a 7% discount through My Tan Feet.com Their website is full of great information especially for first time visitors. People of Costa Rica are very polite and most speak English very well. Taxi from hotel to town square was $10. We had 5 adults so we had to order larger suv taxis. Regular taxi and Ubers are not allowed to take more tan 4 people. We did Jacamar tours :Congo tour- mistico hanging bridges and extreme canopy tour done by 1pm. Also coffee and chocolate tour that everyone loved especially 28/25/23 year olds. Our best tour was the evening cooking class and farm experience. We all good part making chicken annatto from hand picked farm ingredients. Simply amazing. Stay at Los Lagos 3.1 miles outside La Fortuna toward Baldi and Tabacon. You will love it and the pools and hot springs.

Only stayed for 2 nights. Thank goodness. Nothing much to do in the evening no lounge and only bar was the pool bar. Advertised to close at 10pm but don't expect to get served anything other than beer after 9.30. Even then you will be made to feel uncomfortable as they clean and restock around you. Hot springs and pool good, breakfast OK. Nothing else sampled.

Stayed 6 nights in the Superior room, nothing spectacular, has walk in shower, double vanity sink, AC but the room feels rather empty. Housekeeping will come by each day to freshen up your room and make the beds, the maids were always super nice. (Free) Breakfast buffet from 6:30-10AM they will make you fresh eggs lots of selection. The room service is available 12MD-9:30PM with a limited menu at a $5 USD charge for delivery but it usually arrives in 40mins or less, at least in my experience. Expect a rather pricey supper menu at the main restaurant was not a great dining experience. There is however another option for food a pizza/fast food/wet bar restaurant located by the pools. You can expect to see one main pool with a water slide (bonus) and a smaller kid size pool with a water slide, however the hot spring pools seemed to be lacking maintenance, one hot spring pool in particular the jets were not functional and looked rather worn down. Great view of the volcano of course! They have turtles, water fowl, butterfly, ants, and spider viewing area, spa and zip-lining on site, prices can be found at the Souvenir shop. The shop itself has much more than souvenirs be sure to take a look around. Most excursions in town will come pick you up at the resort which is great. A Shuttle to the airport is $192USD, it’s cheaper to take a taxi. Overall half decent spot not too crowded at the time we are here, but of course if you come in May expect rain at some point throughout the day. Cheers.

We only stayed one night. We truly enjoyed the many pools, water slides, swim up bar, spa and hot springs at the top of the.The hotel location at the base of Arenal volcano was impressive and provided amazing vistas when the clouds parted. I can’t say the accommodations were stellar. Our room (106) looked like furniture was missing. Two double beds, no chairs or desk just empty space. The front desk staff were brisk with us too, checking us in. Not very welcoming, more about following their rules. The spa staff were excellent and very kind. Nice gift store too. Dinner was average, service was good. The breakfast buffet was diverse and plentiful.

This was a very professionally managed resort- the grounds were beautiful— bountiful botanicals—the food was delicious, the staff were kind and professional. Loved the view of Arenal Volcan! There is a butterfly garden and a nice hike to view the volcan!
