Our stay at this hotel began with the front desk staff, a person named Luis, who was extremely rude and condescending on check-in. The hotel itself is extremely expensive for what was once just a drive-up motel. The hotel does have good access to the Tabacon thermal spa, but that is the only advantage. We actually had, ironically enough, no...

This place is amazing; it's like going to the Garden of Eden. We spent hours sitting under the waterfalls and relaxing in the different natural volcanic springs here. The spa is expensive but worth every penny--they take you to these private rooms (they look like outdoor Buddhist temples) surrounded by lush tropical gardens or the most relaxing massage you'll ever...

It's far the best springs in Costa Rica. The pool options are enormous, the water temperature is great, the gardens are wonderful and there is a very nice menu included in the day pass. I haven't been to the hotel, but the springs were awesome. A must see.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Hello! My boyfriend and I are traveling to Tabacon in a few weeks! We are a couple in our late twenty's/early thirty's and this will be our first big trip together out of the country... I've tried to do a lot of research but I still have a few questions! Please help and be specific if you can! :)

We booked a private van to the hotel from the airport - but what about once we're there? I've seen a few posts about $1-$2 taxi rides about 10 minutes away into the town of La Fortuna, but I've also seen some people say it cost them $20 to get to La Fortuna.

1. How much should we expect to pay for a taxi from Tabacon into the town of La Fortuna? (or other nearby areas with restaurants)

2. How did you book these quick taxi rides?

When I travel, I am the adventurous type - I love to experience the culture of the area. I am terrified of heights but am still open to zip lining, hiking, etc. I also want to see as many animals and creatures as possible, and I love to photograph! On the other hand, my boyfriend is not as adventurous and would love to experience the culture but in a more relaxed way.

3. What are the best adventurous excursions/tours that you've been on, and how do you book them?

4. What are the most beautiful & relaxing tours that you've been on, and how do you book them?

5. Has anyone been to Extremo Ziplining? I've heard it's the best.

I've read numerous posts about how the food at the Tabacon isn't worth the money... which is fine because I would rather experience the culture anyways.

6. Where have you traveled for food and beverages that you would recommend us to go - and how did you get there?

Lastly, we only have 5 days here and our first and last day are wasted, due to the amount of travel time. (So really only 3 days)

7. What are the top things you recommend for us to do here, besides the springs?

Thanks in advance!!
