My niece and I stayed at the arenal lodge for five nights and it was so amazing to be in the heart of the rainforest! Our room looked right to the Arenal Volcano, and what a spectacular sight! The property has two great hiking paths, one that takes you through the rainforest which was a real treat. Although the lodge is pretty far from many tours or shopping/restaurants, it worked out well for us because we wanted the rainforest experience. The owners are lovely people and Freddie has great stories and loves to share with his guests! They’ll make you feel right at home!
We spent 6 nights at this remote lodging that makes you feel like you're driving within Jurassic Park (note - it's a 15 minute drive off the main road and 30 min to La Fortuna). The views from our chalet room were amazing! Perfect volcano view and lots of wildlife around, including toucans and howler monkeys. Breakfast was an added bonus. Teresa and her staff were most welcoming! My only constructive criticism was that the beds were a bit too firm and the shower/bathroom area was a bit cramped.
My home away from home! A must stay if traveling through the Arenal area. You are treated like family here and they go above and beyond to give you the experience of native Costa Rica. This property is very unique so do your research! The chalets have the best views. If you're not up for a hike book a junior suite at the lodge. The brand new honeymoon suite is phenomenal! You can stay 4 days to a week at this property and have plenty to do. If you are into hiking, a must is all of the trails that surround the 2000 acres. If not up for a hike grab a horse. Horseback riding is offered right on property. Their menu at the restaurant is fresh and affordable! The little 🐸 Frog bar on the property is a favorite! So show some love to this little eco lodge the next time you pass through and don't forget your binoculars for the birds and frogs and monkeys.....…
This place is something out of an adventure movie. The cobblestone driveway to get to the lodge is where the adventure begins. About a 10 minute drive up the steep hill and the wildlife you'll see on your way up. Terry owns/runs the place and was most accommodating and kind. Make sure to take the time to walk at least one of the nature trails and do the horseback riding. The views of the volcano and Nicaragua along the overgrown cobblestone roads of what was meant to be is something you'll never forget.
Nice room - upgraded to the top of the hill - beautiful view of the volcano and surrounding area - when it wasn't raining ... - absolutely gorgeous. Food was good - ate all meals here but one when we ventured over to Nueva Arenal. Freddie and Teresa were great to talk too - think I got Freddie in trouble a few times....we talked. Gonzalo took us up to the top of their property on horseback - I didn't die. Was quite cool, actually - first real horse ride in fact. Gonzola was great, very informative - and PATIENT. Great stay - only drawback is the drive up the driveway - it's worse the first time - but was never "easy".... Easy drive to things about the area. Their wuhan precautions were fine - get over it - get OUT!
