The staff were extremely unorganized and had my girlfriend and I running all over the place to just get a room. We reserved a room online days before arriving yet they didn't have a room for us when we went to check in. They sent us to their sister hostel down the road, where the receptionist tried her hardest to...

Good location, walking distance to markets and shops. Pretty cheap it was $15 a night per person for the dorm. The dorm was for 6 ppl and one bathroom which was good. Kind of dirty tho. The shower didn't have a rack or anything to place your shampoo or soap. The door was such a hassle because it did NOT...

Very affordable price, incredible location in the center of town near shops and bus station, extremely engaging and helpful staff, loved the hammocks and tiki bar, free wifi is pretty weak in the room

Quite a big hostel, centrally located in the town of La Fortuna. It's close to the many restaurants, bars and tourism offices. It's quite expensive (like everything in La Fortuna) but it's a nice and well maintained hostel. The dorms are large but have no windows. The bathroom is clean and has hot water. There's a big garden with hammocks,...

Stayed for two nights, nice courtyard with hammocks and a bar to chill at, clean community kitchen, laundry service and a central location. Stayed there during green season and were delighted about it lacking the common hostel-alltime-party crowd. Recommended.

No hot water, ants, uncomfortable beds, nonexistent staff, very few amenities; I struggle to come up with anything positive except maybe the location. We stayed here because it was ranked highly and featured in lonely planet, but there are dozens of better options (and better locations) in town.

I will start by saying that I ended up walking out of the hostel at about 10pm as the thought of spending the night there appalled me. After having stayed in the awesome Pension Santa Elena the night before this was the opposite end of the hostel spectrum. It has a horrible atmosphere. There were dead cockroaches in my bathroom...

This was a great place to stay - centrally located in la fortuna close to all the restaurants, shops and ativities. It is fully equipped with a kitchen with all the food tools you might want to cook and a cozy living room that was so spacious we could all hang out and enjoy the evenings cooking and organazing for...

Before you go here make very sure that you don't actually want Hostel Backpackers La Fortuna. Very close in name but that is where the similarities end. We turned up expecting a lively, funky hostel with a bar and ended up staying the night in what essentially appeared to be a garden shed because we felt stupid and a bit...

“Might as well choose a dorm room. Odds are you'll have it to yourself and sleep just as poorly. There's a fantastic little soda around the corner, off the main road. We ate there many times.”
