Amor Arenal is a haven of luxury nestled amidst atmospheric surroundings, with travelers consistently applauding its stunning location. The hotel's private casitas with jungle views, personal hot tubs, and spacious showers have earned rave reviews, as has the exceptional cleanliness that extends from the rooms to the grounds.

Our room was a spacious cabin, with every possible amenity, including a private deck equipped with a large hot tub and boasting a sweeping view of the rainforest valley beyond and the Arenal Volcano on the other side. Its architecture maximized our privacy - sometimes you could hear vague voices from the neighbors on their deck, but you couldn't seem them, and they couldn't see you.
The bedroom had a large, comfortable king bed and plenty of pillows. The large TV was set up for Netflix and YouTube in addition to cable TV. The minibar was free and well-stocked. The bathroom had a private toilet and a spacious walk-in shower with multiple shower heads and entire wall was a window overlooking the rainforest. There were two sinks, vanity mirror, hair dryer and curling iron, and plenty of toiletry supplies. There were lots of extra towels. There was an ironing board, iron, room safe, dehumidifier, and air purifier, as well as cell phone charging station.
The grounds were immaculate, with paved roadways to all major facilities. The roads were often a bit steep, which was fine with me, but for those who need them there are plenty of golf carts with drivers who will gladly take you wherever you want.
There are two nature trails, including a fairly easy one that you can take on your own, and a more difficult trail that requires a guide (provided by hotel). There are 3 pools, including two heated ones, and one of those has a swim-up bar.
The wildlife is varied, colorful, and abundant, as are the extensive grounds.
They have a fantastic spa, where we enjoyed perhaps the best massage of our lives.
The restaurant (and bar) had a wide selection of menu options, including traditional Costa Rican dishes. I highly recommend their 6-course traditional meal, which also includes 4 cocktails made with cacique and other Costa Rican liqueurs. The hotel staff were all attentive, prompt, helpful, & friendly, and they even had a naturalist on staff who would take you on walks of the grounds and help locate wildlife.
It is a rainforest, so we did experience some rain. They are equipped for that as well, with umbrella stations at every cabin and facility, in addition to covered golf carts. And actually, it is quite pleasant soaking in the hot tub on the deck while the rain falls!
Really, this is perfect for adult couples, and I couldn't recommend it more highly!

My fiancé and I stayed for 5 days at Amor Arenal for a much needed getaway celebrating our engagement and my birthday. If you are looking to connect with nature and disconnect from the day to day bustle, I cannot recommend this place more.
The Property: For a place that it surrounded by beautiful fauna and wildlife, the staff do an incredible job keeping the grounds meticulously clean. Constantly sweeping the roads, cleaning amenities multiple times per day, etc. It is absolutely stunning and tucked away from the main town. Bring good walking shoes as a lot of the roads are uphill; that being said they constantly have golf carts wizzing by and asking if you want a ride. There is so much wildlife on the resort it’s amazing - we saw roadrunners, toucans, hummingbirds, frogs, geckos and lizards.
Rooms: Words can’t do justice. We stayed in #21 which is further away from the amenities but had an incredible view of the volcano when the sky was clear. First round of the mini bar is free, which has two types of beer (4 cans total), a bottle of sangria (a good 4 glasses), mini cokes and ginger ales, milk (To use with the frother for lattes!), and lots of water (which they always replenish for free every day). The shower is a dual rain shower and is godly. Despite the open concept of the room / shower there is total privacy and fairly quiet. We’d occasionally hear our neighbours if they were outside, but not for longer than an hour. The jacuzzi is a nice touch too - just be careful getting in as the first step is steep! The staff were very attentive in constantly replacing our towels too, which was nice. The bed is super comfy - probably the best sleep I’ve had in years from being actually in tune with the sunrise and sunset. You just have to be vigilant about closing the doors as bugs do get in quickly. There was one day where we saw a cockroach but never again after - it’s helpful to place a towel in front of the front door as there’s a slight gap. AC was sufficient and the room has a giant ceiling fan too! Again, stunning architecture and wood pieces. A true oasis.
Pools: If you are looking for a pool or beach vacation, this is not the place for you. If you’re looking for quiet reflection and time with nature, then this is amor arenals specialty. The pools are quaint, with a main one closer to the restaurants, and a second one down the opposite way. The pool with the wet bar is warmed, the rest are cooler but are refreshing and have beautiful waterfalls cascading down. As it is small, I could see it filling up fast on sunnier days, but we never had an issue and people usually didn’t stay too long to lounge at the pool.
Amenities: The meditation space and yoga room are breathtaking, looking out to the rainforest and so, so serene. They offer yoga every morning, but we never attended and did our own thing later. The meditation space seldom had anyone else there, which was nice. The path there is beautiful and you’ll likely see lots of animals! We saw a howler monkey closer to the meditation space. We never used the gym, but it’s spacious and has ample equipment - my only qualm was that it smelled like if you leave clothes in the washer and forgot about them lol.
There are 2 trails on the property - Nanciton (which is easier and beside the jaranita bar for access) and the serenity trail (More difficult). Both are free to use, with options to pay for a guide. At the start of Nanciton there are walking sticks available for use (and free yay), which were super helpful. We opted to do that trail a few times on our own and managed fine. If you aren’t experienced hikers it’s totally doable, just bring proper shoes (we got hiking runners just for the trip and they were awesome). The serenity trail looked intimidating without a guide so we skipped it.
Spa: Worth the money. Was easy enough to book and they didn’t pressure too much (More on that later) about add ons. They start off with a nice foot scrub and some tea, and you can hear the forest as you get your massage. We opted for the howler monkey experience (which is hot stone) and it was wonderful. They ask you ahead of time about problem areas too which is nice.
Food: Echoing other reviews, this is where I’d say the hotel falls short. The food is okay, but definitely overpriced. Breakfast is AMAZING - highly recommend the Costa Rican, which comes with chorizo, scrambled eggs, a lil tortilla with fried cheese (Like halloumi adjacent), rice and beans, a mini pancake and fried pancakes. In addition to whatever you order, you also get a bowl of fresh fruit (so good omg), a small bowl of oatmeal (also delicious), coffee, and a juice of the day. Ask for tap water or else you’ll get charged 10$ for a bottle of Voss. We’d usually be so full fro, breakfast that we could skip lunch. Get the nachos from the wet bar, and or the cucumber margarita. The tapas at jaranita are good El rancho for dinner - the salmon was quite good. We heard the couple next to us say that the steak dinner for 2 was ‘chewy’..so make of that what you will. I will say that the staff really tried to push their gastro experience (Chefs corner) as well as their grill it yourself dinner, but thankfully once you politely decline they don’t push it.
Which brings me to my other slight qualm about this place - the tours and food are overpriced, and the staff are likely given incentives to sell them. Though most staff weren’t too pushy, it does take away from the wellness experience slightly.
Overall, will 100% be going back and feel so rejuvenated after visiting. Pura Vida!! Shout out to Jogebeth for checking in with us and making my birthday extra special :).
Tips - get alcohol from duty free to bring to the room, it’s cheaper and will fit in the mini fridge. Get the airport pick up /drop off - pricy but the roads are brutal I wouldn’t feel safe navigating myself or without an suv. Bring bug spray and LONG sleeves! The weather is about 5 degrees (C) cooler than when you land because of the elevation. Go into town; we wanted to but didn’t plan. Apparently there’s excellent food and it’s overall safe as there are mostly tourists. Visit the lil snack shack, they have some goodcroisssnts with salami. Bring good walking shoes and a camera!

Our stay at Amor Arenal was absolutely phenomenal! Jogebeth and all of the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to make sure our vacation was perfect. The room was spotless, with stunning views of the Arenal Volcano and the rainforest and the resort facilities, including the pool, spa, and 24x7 availability of a golf cart to help you move around the resort were top-notch. We especially loved the delicious food options at the on-site restaurants, with a diverse menu to suit every taste. And a special Thanks to Jogebeth for arranging everything including all of the offsite tours so flawlessly. She is a super star. We can't wait to return for another relaxing getaway!"

Just past the town of La Fortuna. Words cannot begin to describe the service and feeling of seclusion and tranquility. From our arrival greeting to the short golf cart ride to Casita # 8. Great location near the gym, just a short walk up the hill to the restaurant, bar and heated pool with swim up bar. All casitas face the volcano and have private walkways to the main stone laid road. We did walk the road each morning. The room is large, the shower immense and the outdoor hot tub, while only having natural vegetation as a fence allowed a view of the Arenal Volcano well when clouds did not cover the view. With climate change we had rain most days even in the less wet season of late January. Not an issue when it is 75 deg and back home is 8 deg F. Great amenities and the only place where the fridge contents were free and replaced daily. Great food at each meal. Go as simple or complicated as you want.

While the website showcases the luxurious rooms, breathtaking views, and gourmet cuisine, words can hardly do justice to the sublime experience of staying at this hotel. Blissful, magical, and pure relaxation are just a few words that begin to capture the essence of this tropical paradise.
However, what truly sets this hotel apart is the exceptional service provided by its staff. From the housekeepers to the manager, every employee went above and beyond to ensure we felt like the only guests in the entire resort. Excursions, restaurant recommendations, transportation arrangements, and even the smallest requests were handled promptly and with a genuinely warm and positive attitude.
Special mention must be made of Jogebeth, whose thoughtful gesture made my girlfriend's birthday celebration even more memorable. While we were out on an excursion, she transformed our room into a romantic wonderland, adorning it with balloons, a cake, flowers, and rose petals – a truly heartwarming surprise.
This hotel offers more than just a jungle getaway; it provides an opportunity for your mind and soul to rejuvenate while immersing yourself in the natural beauty of Costa Rica. An unforgettable experience!!!!

From the time you are greeted at the front desk, until you are checked out, this hotel elevates the personalized experience to another level. This is a boutique hotel with only 31 breathtaking rooms, which makes you feel at home from the moment you step in. Contrary to what the name of the hotel might stand for, me and my 3 girlfriends, went on a girls’ only trip to Costa Rica and chose Amor Arenal to stay in. The entire staff knew our names upon arrival. They were all very welcoming and catered to ever single one of our needs. Each room is private and secluded, perfect for couples, but also nice to disconnect and enjoy some relaxing time with your friends. Since the rooms were a little far from the pool and restaurant, if it was raining, we called the front desk and immediately they would send a golf cart to pick us up. They took less than a minute to get to our room. Rooms were well equipped with a mini bar (which they would refill for free once), and unlimited water bottles; coffee maker, robes, private jacuzzi in the balcony and the biggest shower that had a huge window that overlooked the Costa Rican rainforest. The food was amazing in the restaurant. Breakfast, which was included with our rate, always included juice, oatmeal, fruit, bread and our choice of an entrée. The entire restaurant staff was extremely nice and the service was always excellent. Last but not least, the heated pool bar was the perfect place to finish our daily activities. The cocktail selection was incredible and the bar tenders crafted them to perfection. I would definitely come back to this place and highly recommend it to anyone that wants to enjoy the beauty and activities of Costa Rica, while being spoiled by friendly staff in this luxurious but private hotel.

This place exceeded our expected rations! We stayed 3 nights and loved every minute of it. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly staff who took our luggage to our villa. The grounds were beautiful and private. The room was gorgeous, fridge stocked with free beverages (alcohol and non alcoholic). The windows were floor to ceiling giving way to a beautiful lush view of trees and the Arenal volcano. The private balcony included a spa and Adirondack chairs. The bathroom was roomy with a 8x8 shower also with floor to ceiling windows - the room was surrounded by lunch trees that you could not see the villa on either side. The beds and pillows were so comfortable and the provided eye masks allowed any light to be blocked from the windows for a long, comfortable sleep! I treated myself to a body scrub, wrap and massage in the spa and that too was amazing and very reasonably priced. We ate the daily included breakfast and it was delicious. I cannot say enough about what a wonderful time we had at Amor Arenal. If we are fortunate to return to La Fortuna, we will definitely stay here again!!!

Perfect place to get to know nature to the fullest, friendly and hospitable staff make you feel at home. From Heiden's welcome quality in security makes you feel in a magical and special place. When you arrive at the lobby, you are greeted by a happy and dynamic person like Jean Carlos as a bellman who makes you release the stress generated by driving to the place. It was the first of all that they called you by name and reminded you of the reason for the trip (birthday). Once in the lobby, Marilyn greeted us and explained everything related to the stay in such an easy and fun way, and when I say everything ,that's all. Easy check in Jean Carlos took the vehicle to the parking lot and waited for us to take us to the room (it was perfect because it rained in the afternoon and that heat from the jacuzzi was a perfect combination). For the room it has everything one could ask for (they even gave us a gift for our birthday). At night because of the rain they have the option of room services which we requested and Mauricio brought us the perfect food just as ordered, they also removed our plates once we finished eating. The next day Jogebeth with a smile welcomed us to the main restaurant and explained the breakfast process to us (by the way a lot of food and good traditional taste). Leonardo and Carmen, our waiters, arrived and established a warm conversation about our place of origin and even brought smiles to our faces. Unfortunately everything started has an end and Marolyn helped us at check out to call Jean Carlos (bellman) and they even offered us water at the end of check out. Many people to thank, housekeeper, maintenance, kitchen, stewards, in short, many people made this trip feel like we felt at home. See you soon friends, thank you for being yourself and making that attitude transmitted to everyone else.

If you want to head to a luxury hotel in Arenal, you are at the right place with Amor Arenal. There are 31 chalets on property and each offers their guests a fantastic view of the volcano (when there are no clouds). Our room had a huge open space, a private plunge pool / hottub which was filled and super clean, and a shower that you could throw a party in. The shower is at the back of the room and has a huge window wall that faces the volcano.
The staff are all very friendly and professional and seem to keep a close eye on their guests. We had an issue at dinner our first night and the next morning, the concierge a breakfast came to talk to us about the incident and noted to us that there was a report filed.
Breakfast is included and you should take advantage of this. Unlike many hotels where included breakfasts are buffet, this is a la carte and the options are exceptional. If you have an early morning tour, the hotel will box up sandwiches for you before you leave.
The grounds offer 2 walking trails. The one trail would be moderate to difficult and takes approximately 30-40 min and has some significant elevation changes. The other is a 3 hour walk that must be done with a guide (we did not do this). The rooms are all located on a fairly steep hill and if you have ANY trouble walking up and down hills, the hotel has a number of staff driven golf carts…just ask a staff member to call you a cart or dial 0 and they are there within minutes. This is a lifesaver depending on which room you are in.
There are 3 pools on the property, 2 cold and 1 hot with a swim up bar. The drinks are awesome.
The property also has a full spa and we did a couples Serenity Session which was 80 min…for someone who is not a spa guy, it was really great. We ate dinner at the hotel on our first night and the food was good but quite expensive. While it costs ~$10 USD to head into La Fortuna, the price difference in food does make up for this.
As it was our anniversary, the hotel provided us with chocolate strawberries and a lovely bottle of sparkling wine as a special gift. This is a top tier hotel and should be considered if you are in Arenal.

We really appreciated that it is adults-only, which added to the quality of the experience. The rooms and property itself look like it's out of a movie. We were in awe. There are some comments about how the outside of your room does not have a roof, but I think that a roof would've completely ruined the authentic view you have of the jungle.
The level of customer service was out of this world. We were picked up and driven to wherever we wanted to go on the property. There was outstanding breakfast and breakfast service. The staff are also wonderful people. They went out of their way to help us practice our Spanish. They recommended multiple sodas (locally & family-owned Costa Rican restaurants) in the area, and none of their recommendations disappointed! Sadly, the restaurants in the area have caught on that tourists are explicitly looking for the word "soda" in the restaurant name, so you'll encounter some restaurants that are labeled as sodas to reel you in, but in fact, are not authentic food and are menu options are rushed, low-quality food. Another staff member was explaining how the tourism industry is how Costa Rica invests in its clean energy initiatives, and it was meaningful to me to know where my dollars go. The staff seems to work really hard; sometimes, we encountered the same people working late at night as we did early in the morning. I really hope they're getting their rest and living their lives outside of work, they deserve it! In conclusion, the recommendations about the local area and the real, unfiltered opinion of Costa Rica were by far the most valuable parts of the stay, in addition to the physical property.
You are truly one with nature here (to the extent that one can be without compromising on luxury), and I personally had an amazing time taking pictures of all the bugs, birds and lizards. There are also double sliding doors in place to keep the critters out, so don't worry if that's not your thing. It is a rainforest so the room gets humid, but the provided air conditioner and dehumidifier in the room solved that perfectly.
I only have 3 small complaints. First, the spa is ridiculously overpriced. For a package that is $150 USD per person on the property, you can get a similar or better massage in the downtown area for $45 USD per person. Secondly, the 3 hour hike had limited availability. This is understandable because only 1 guide on the whole property is knowledge enough about the plants, animals and history of the area to be qualified to give the tour, but it would've been nice to have multiple time options to go on the tour. I think the guide needs some co-workers! Lastly, getting breakfast delivered to the room (extra $13, but worth it if you're in a rush like we were that day) had noticeably smaller portions than getting breakfast at the restaurant, but this comment is more nitpicking because I'm sure the smaller portions are a result of there being a limitation in how much food can be transported in a tray.
5 out of 5. We will be back for our next special occasion!

There were blinds in the hallway leading to the bathroom, but the sliding door to the outdoor deck allows lots of natural light into the bedroom area. It was never a problem for us since we enjoyed the brightness of the room, but if you prefer complete darkness, a mask may be the way to go.
Hello...Of course you can use your own discretion because we're tippers in general, but their hospitality was so outstanding that we just had to! We didn't convert, so we used US dollars. We left some in the room for housekeeping, tipped the folks who picked us up in the golf carts, and for the hostess & servers at breakfast even though breakfast was included. It was simply their pride in service! We had a couples massage which included a chocolate scrub (can't remember name), but it was so wonderfully different than any others we've had. Very relaxing, satisfying & worth the money! Unless you're really into hiking, you can miss the 1.5 hour paid guided trail tour on their property. The free Nanciton trail which they say is doable in 30 min took us non-athletes over an hour & trust me it was more than a plentiful work-out!
