My family and I stayed here for 8 days as part of our Groupon Adrenaline package. After a harrowing 2.5-hour drive from the airport, we arrived at the rural motel. Tip: The drive from the SJO airport is on switchback mountain roads at breakneck speed. Take Dramamine!! First impressions of this motel can make it seem sketchy, but we found...

There isn't really a concierge, but Carlos was very helpful about everything, so it was like having a concierge always there. We had a groupon deal that included lodging here, plus daily excursions to great places in the area. The hotel is in a rural area, and it abuts a jungle-ish wildlife area. A stream runs by the property, and...

We purchased a Groupon deal that included our stay at this resort. The place is not a 5 star place but everything was nice and the place was always cleaned. I loved the beautiful bright flowers that are all over the resort, mainly by the entrance. Although they didn't have a big selection on the menu We loved the food!...

We bought a Groupon for an adventure vacation that included this very nice, "off the beaten path" hotel. Carlos the owner is most accommodating. He and his staff really go out of the way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The package included the local breakfast every morning that includes fresh fruit, juice, eggs and rice and beans....

We visited Lavas in March 2017. Staff was great and willing to accommodate to our needs. Free breakfast was great, and the place is quiet which is great to get a good night sleep since all activities in the are start pretty early. Only downside is that free wifi wasn't working by our rooms so we had to go to...

Stayed here an entire week from March 3 - March 10 2017. The hotel and resort with its smaller setting gives a warm touch and a pleasant experience. Hotel and resort is clean and managed very well. All the staff were helpful and courteous from the housekeeping staff, cooks, and the hotel Manager Carlos. All were very helpful people. Food...

We purchased a Groupon for adventure tours and the stay at Hotel Lavas was part of the package. We loved the friendly atmosphere, the park-like setting, and the on-site open air restaurant with great food at reasonable prices. Carlos was the perfect host, orchestrating our stay. We watched the toucans in the trees overhead in the morning and evening. The...

When I first arrived at this hotel with my 16-year-old daughter I was a little skeptical but after only a short time it felt like home. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept, the staff are wonderful, the accommodations are comfortable yet basic. We fell in love with the hotel as well as the area and we did not want to...

Had a wonderful time at Hotel Lavas. I purchased the Groupon deal. The hotel is out of the way of town but honestly, the town is OK for a visit but it was nice to wake up to all the birds. We only put our ac on 2 nights. The weather was amazing. Tours will pick you up directly from...

I bought a Groupon Getaway package for my daughter and me and this is where we went. The driver, Eduardo, picked us up at the airport and delivered us to Lavas. This place is not the poshest place you've ever seen. However, the rooms were clean, the bathroom was mold-free (that's a pet peeve of mine), and the beds were...
