Located less than one hour from the San Jose (Juan Santamaria) Airport, the Peace Lodge is the perfect place to begin or end your vacation. You don't need to spend your first or last day in a city hotel. Please come spend them in the rain and cloud forest with us and still be close to the airport. we stayed a month in Costa Rica and this was our last hotel...so glad we ended up here it was magical, animals, mountains, volcanoes, waterfalls... We were welcomed right away by welcome drinks and a super nice guy name Jose who showed us the property..the room was beautiful, the bed super comfortable, bathroom out of this world 2 showers and a garden all around us..Jacuzzi..also a balcony with hummingbird feeder and another Jacuzzi, the fireplace really added an extra special touch. We did a lot of tours with Michael who is nice and professional. He showed us frogs, even a hummingbird nest that are hard to find..he even taught us how to use the phone for amazing shots at night. he showed us bats, let us fed some animals which was an amazing experience..he also took us to Poas Volcano which is right near the hotel. This place has beautiful grounds with lots of trails, rivers, waterfalls. The aviary was nice and the butterfly room was magical. Food was great at all the restaurants there, the staff super nice.they make you feel at home. Daniel,Byron,Bryan,Andres,Jean Pablo, jean carlos great people and they have been working in this hotel for years..some actually helped building this place..I love that the owners keep their workers for such long time some even over 20 years and that says a lot..I can only imagine what great people the owners are. well we enjoyed every second here surrounded by the stars and the sounds of nature. hope to come back again one day.

We stayed at the PeaceLodge in December 2023. There were 9 of us, lifelong friends celebrating some "big birthdays." This resort is a truly unique experience. The staff were friendly, helpful and treated us like family. The animal feeding tour was the highlight of our stay. We look forward to returning or visiting the sister resort near Arenal. Highly recommend staying here for a couple nights.

The Peace Lodge was a good spot to stay for a couple of nights before leaving Costa Rica. Lodge guests get admission to the park and do get some perks (like the feedings you can pay extra for) that are really fun and unique. The grounds of the park were beautiful. We thought the food served in the restaurants was quite good. Staff was super friendly and kind. We stayed in the Monarch Villa. It definitely is looking a bit run-down and probably needs a reno, but I suspect the remote location makes it difficult to update rooms at the Lodge. Road noise can be loud at times. It wasn't crowded when we were there, so we didn't really hear a lot of noise from other guests. LOTS and LOTS of steps! It's probably not a great choice if you have difficulty navigating stairs and steps. I would stay there again for sure, but I don't think you need more than 2 nights here.

We had a wonderful time in this rain forest resort. We had all ages with us-there was something to do for everyone. The feeding of the animals that you can participate in is not to be missed. All excursions that we went to off property were really fun. We did the river rafting and coffee plantation tour.

The Peace Lodge was the most amazing place I’ve ever stayed in my life…experienced things he can only see by going to multiple countries and one spot. Our family of five had an incredible time and this is a perfect place for families. We have an 11-year-old girl, six-year-old son, and eight-year-old son. It was outstanding. Can’t recommend this enough and yes, it is a splurge, but I would highly suggest two nights

This Review is compartmentalised (deliberately so) into Lodge itself as exactly that, and then the Waterfall Gardens Nature Park 'animal sanctuary' - which is right next door/attached. Day Visitors are allowed - via separate Entrance. Our Agent had given us a somewhat confused Write-up, so my expectations were not high and muddled. Pleasant drive from SJO Airport that seemed to be rising constantly - 5,000 ft so cool in the evenings and early mornings or when shrouded in mist/cloud, and the open gas fire (in the hearth at the end of our bed) proved more useful than I could have imagined. Big room, desk, sofa chairs and lounger (chaise longue). big King bed, decent deck, big quirky dark bathroom (Toilet Door was a hazard & had a mind of its own) with bath and shower. Terrific view, when clouds lifted, to the Volcanos, Hills, Rainforest, River Valley and across/over the Animal Sanctuary from which there was a constant stream of unfamiliar Calls) - very close by. Outside our 2 windows hung a birdfeeder (replenished daily) specific to Humming Birds - visited by another each 10 - 15 seconds. Neat gimmick & we loved them. Food good, Bar service good, Breakfast very good & al fresco watching all the Birds - also free, despite Agents' notes. Service was generally a bit slow though - not all Itineraries allow leisurely breaks Getting around was a bit challenging as there are many steep concrete steps. But there were Golf Buggies around, so I suspect the less mobile can be catered for - apt forward Notice essential. Our Room/suite was "Siproeta Epaphus" - all are named after Butterflies. Adjacent Animal Sanctuary - nice to be able to view & visit so many Birds (some Animals - Primates, Sloths, Cougars) up close, but they were housed in rather small Facilities - particularly the Big Cats. I do not have access to enough Facts to make a pious pronouncement - just remain pleased someone is doing something for the injured or Rescued creatures & not nothing. The Grounds Keeper or Birdman who showed us the Humming Birds was absolutely super. I will not Name or divulge, in case he could get into trouble, and Yes he did get a decent Tip. He added a great deal to our experience. Thank you. We also hired a Bird Guide via the Lodge (paid separately etc) - highly recommended, if Birds are your thing. Sarrapique Boat Trip also highly recommended. A Whole Day trip, but so worth it. Waterfall Gardens, Pools and Ponds were nice and worth stroll round, but devoid of the wow factor. Temps up here are decidedly cooler than in the City or Plains below - check beforehand highly commended.

The Peace Lodge has everything you can ask for in Costa Rica...waterfalls, warm pools, an animal sanctuary and incredible locally inspired cuisine. There is so much to do for both kids and adults. We wish we could have stayed longer! All of the staff was very friendly and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed to stay comfortable during our stay.

The hotel is connected to the waterfall park so when the tours go home, you have private access to the animal enclosures and area. We had a good time. The trip up from SJO had winding roads which were a bit difficult if you get car sick easily. The dinner restaurant, as there only one open for dinner, is just ok. It plates the food nicely but it lacks flavor and depth. I think the fish we ordered has soy sauce on it. Better to go to the on-site grill. The rooms were amazing and beautiful. Great views of the mountains and we had two hot tubs. One on the balcony and one in the bathroom, both stone and beautifully. Two days here is more than enough to see everything. And given the limited dining options. Two days was perfect

The views are everything. Management had great communication prior to arrival with arranging transportation. Driver was there to greet me immediately upon arrival. The 1 hour commute went smooth. Thanks Jason! Lot of sharp turns on the way but nothing major. Check in was quick and easy, great park information provided. The rooms were perfect. Large showers, great balcony views, great decor. The water actually remained hot in the Jacuzzi tubs. Food was great, definite 9/10. Room service also available. The hike to the waterfalls was my favorite activity, lots of others to choice from. Bring your walking shoes and good knees! Would stay here again.
