Reviews state this location is a great find. The rooms, front desk attendant and filth of the pool were anything but inviting. The location is nowhere near anything!! The bar/restaurant were the greatest part thank goodness or we would have changed hotels!
An unfortunate accident led to us looking for accommodation that was wheelchair accessible. After almost a week confined to a city centre hotel, this place was a lifesaver for us. A previous poster described entering the grounds of Hotel Aeropuerto as like an oasis in the middle of a more commercial area, and that it was. There was road noise from the nearby highway, but it was rarely intrusive. Similarly the nearby airport was not a problem. Our room was very spacious, clean and had sliding windows that looked onto a small, quiet area of the garden. There was air conditioning, ‘
First of all, we got to the hotel and we noticed that our room stunk so badly. There was black mold on the bathroom wall in the shower. We went to sleep and turn on the air conditioner and the AC unit made a SUPER loud noise that sounded like crickets chirping. It was ungodly loud so we had to sleep with our heads in between two pillows. Lastly, we had transportation to the airport which they claimed was free (says on the website) but we were charged $12 by the taxi driver. There was no one at the desk so we couldnt voice our concerns. If you want a hotel by the airport, just pay a little extra next time and stay at the Courtyard Marriot.
Costa Rica is open for business. Just spent two nights at Hotel Eropeurto they only had a few guest but were more than accommodating. They are only a few miles from the airport not in town but in a beautiful gaited area with well kept garden and nice pool. If you want real fancy and to pay more stay in San Jose, but for me this is a great way to start or end your vacation in Costa Rica! Please visit Costa Rica ot is open all it needs is some tourists.
As travelers, we are used to non-descript, bland chain hotels. This was a delightful surprise. We knew from research that the airport shuttle is via taxi. We took a bus that dropped us off behind the San Jose airport, right where the taxi yard was located. We approached them and requested a shuttle to the hotel and they knew the drill. The driver dropped us off then went to the front desk to collect his fare. The lobby is amazing. All open air, overhead fans, lots of wicker and old wood. We got our keys, and checked out our room, which was just fine, clean and comfortable, not fancy. It was mid- afternoon and hot, so we went down to use the outdoor pool, and discovered, to our delight, that it was in the middle of a mango Grove. Beautiful, ripe mangos were everywhere - on the trees, on the ground, in the pool. We took one back to our room and it was the most delicious, sweet mango! We went for dinner in the restaurant, and to our surprise were the only ones there! Dinner was good and reasonable. The shuttle next morning was on time. Many people were waiting for the shuttle, which was a surprise, as it was the first time we had seen other people! Unique, beautiful, fun and efficient. …
We were here only overnight between flights. The reception guy was friendly and helpful. They had icy cold water in the lobby - big plus! Grounds were great for walking around after a long day of travel. The attached restaurant was very reasonably priced but little used. The airport transportation wasn't so good. They had asked for our arrival information, which I provided. And indeed, there was someone there from CTT holding a sign. But then we waited for almost an hour before he finally got us on a van - then found out we were expected to pay for it! The morning transportation only comes (or so we were told) every hour and the time didn't work for us so we took a cab that was only about $7. Very pleasant place for the price, but don't count on it for a shuttle.
Close to the hotel. $9 for a cab ride from there. The hotel was nice and a reasonable price. It was nothing fancy but we slept great and had a good breakfast in the morning before continuing on with our vacation.
I stayed one night at this hotel for the convenience of early morning flight next day. The check-in was simple, staff found your name and you filled the form, then you were given the room key and the remote controls for TV and air conditioner. I got a room on the 2nd floor and have to take up my luggage by myself. So if you have back problem and/or heavy luggages, make sure to ask a room on the 1st floor when you booking. My room was spacious with two firm queen beds and some old looking furnitures, but room was clean and bedding was nice. There was a modern espresso pod coffee maker. You can ask more coffee pods at the front desk. If you are a tea drinker, they didn't have regular tea bags except mint tea bags. Bathroom was simple and clean, bring your own toiletries, this hotel only had wall mounted liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner. Don't panic if you can't find the large towels, they were on the beds as part of decoration. There was also a wall mounted hair dryer. The safety deposit box in the room was an old style - need a key to operate it. But I couldn't find the key. I didn't bother to ask the front desk since I have no need to use it. In the lobby, there was a very small gift shop you can buy small bag of chips and nuts, soda and beers were also available, plus there were two soft drink vending machines. The hotel restaurant didn't open till 4:00 pm. I had pizza for dinner, it tasted good. I didn't have a chance to try their breakfast since I left at 4:00 am. The hotel takes US$ and credit card in case you don't have CRC (Costa Rican colón) handy. Front desk staff was sufficient, but lack of enthusiastic that made me feel she didn't care much about me. Restaurant staff was very friendly. WiFi signal was good in the room. Note for hotel shuttle bus: 1. It's located at outside of arrival, looking for a guy holding "Hotel Aeropuerto" plate. He'll lead you to the waiting area. The shuttle bus is contract business with different hotels, so the bus doesn't have "Hotel Aeropuerto" sigh on it. It only takes about 10-12 minutes to get to the hotel, the bus goes through the local road so don't be anxious. 2. Book the returning shuttle bus after you check-in.…
The grounds around the hotel are very nice. The room & bed quite average. the breakfast quite average, as well & only served from 6am- 8:30am. Close to airport - 10 minutes & you need to take a taxi from the airport to get there. They will offer a free shuttle only going back to the airport but must sign up for it the night before. Neighborhood seems a bit shady - the hotel is gated & quite hidden with high walls surrounding it.
A very nice economical accommodation with good size rooms, a nice breakfast and small bar on the second floor of the registration building. The staff are friendly and efficient. The closest restaurants are about 100-200 meters East of the complex.
