We loved this place! After flying all day arriving hot, tired, and sweaty, we quickly changed into our swimsuits and enjoyed a stroll of the beautiful grounds and a soak in the beautiful and clean pool, followed by naps in the poolside hammocks while watching and listening to all of the different birds. Dinner was very tasty- one of our... More

If you are looking for a place for one night after landing in Costa Rica, this is it. This might be the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in. That, coupled with a comfortable king bed, made my first night in Costa Rica much better than anticipated. I waited too long to make a reservation. The Hotel Martino was... More

This trip was absolutely a great experience. I can’t say enough about the hotel and the people. The hotel is very rustic, quite and has a lot of character. A little weathered but comfortable. May not be the perfect place for children but for those who are looking to get away and relax this is for sure the place. Spa... More

This hotel is a two star - very creepy and old fashioned. If this was the only problem, that would be one thing. The service is awful (definitely not resort like at all) - it was like pulling teeth at the front desk and restaurant to get any help at all. We checked in and found ANTS IN OUR BED... More

Hotel is close the airport, but far (45 min taxi ride) from San Jose. Rooms were large and clean, but beds were hard, sheets were very coarse, and pillows were ridiculously flat and hard. Front desk service was excellent, and personnel went the extra mile to help us arrange our travel plans in Costa Rica. Hotel price was expensive. Restaurant... More

Having read the previous reviews I was concerned about staying here, but since our stay was short I decided to go with it. Room was clean, but nothing special. Shower was a little dingy, breakfast nothing special...very average. If I could do it again I'd avoid it for the price.

I booked one night here as a last minute reservation despite reading some of the negative reviews posted. I also watched the dates the reviews were posted to look for more recent entries. My initial impression upon seeing the resort was beautiful grounds and they very well maintained. During the day, there were workers cleaning up the grounds which were... More

We stayed one night before flying home and found it a lovely place and a great value. If you want to stay near the airport and avoid the mess of San Jose, tihis is an excellent choice. It's in the grand style and has lots of character. Our room was spacious and faced a lovely garden. You could sit on... More

Beautiful arquitecture, huge pool and fair to good food. Clean rooms with a homemade chip on your key so you cannot leave the A/C on when absent (Strange). Lots of unmarked stairs all over the hotel and grounds - Terrible place for a child of any age. No playground, no kid's menu, no flotation devices at the pool, no cribs... More
