The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.

Small hotel in a silent location, but still in the middle of everything. Truly a real boutique style. Nice breakfast. Real nice room designs, especially love the bath-tube in the middle of the room. Very friendly service. One of our favorite hotels in Shanghai.

We only stayed here one night. The place looked cool online but it's truly beautiful in person. The staff were very friendly and chatted with us at the bar in the evening. The bartenders made some of the best drinks we'd had in Shanghai. The breakfast buffet is fantastic & has a great selection. Every element of the hotel is thoughtfully designed, from the hallways to the bathtubs. Most of the design elements are repurposed and eco-friendly as well, and there are little plaques around explaining where the repurposed materials came from. Very cool. Close to the French Concession, we were able to walk to a rad little restaurant. And it was a quick and easy taxi to the airport.

Actually we were booked in Cachet boutique hotel, which is sister property. But after landing we have discovered an email from Cachet telling us we should go to URBN. Since it was midnight we had no other chance, but to go to URBN, and have decided to clarify everything in the morning. However, we liked URBN hotel so much, that we didn't want to change back. The location is top, the rooms very nice, we liked the philosophy behind it. Very good happy hour and breakfast, attentive staff and beautiful courtyard. We are visiting Shanghai on a regular basis since 20 years already, now we have a new favourite hotel, and that is URBN.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Beautiful boutique hotel with just 26 rooms so you can be sure that your stay there is peaceful and that staff will be dedicated to providing top notch service. Breakfast is great, whether or not you sit in the indoor or outdoor dining area. Found myself spoilt for choice every morning with the extensive breakfast menu. Rooms are extremely spacious and cosy, and the huge bed was more than comfortable for a solo traveller like me. There's a coffee machine in the room, and many power sockets that are strategically placed. Toiletries and amenities were high quality products, and I like how environmentally friendly the hotel is. You'd find that bricks and floors were made from recycled materials, and this extends to even the facial tissues and toilet paper. Hotel front desk staff were all extremely helpful and accommodating, understanding and flexible. I highly recommend this hotel if anyone is travelling to Shanghai. P.S. the hotel has happy hour daily from 3pm to 7pm, serving snacks, coffee and tea, house pours, wines, beers and ciders completely free of charge.
