Neighborhood
Jing'an
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.

Small hotel in a silent location, but still in the middle of everything. Truly a real boutique style. Nice breakfast. Real nice room designs, especially love the bath-tube in the middle of the room. Very friendly service.

I was invited to a luxury event in Shaghai. Wine tastings and very rare meat and sponsored events. They made me a reservation at URBN. I don't know how they are connected. It was in a convenient area. The rooms were ...unique if not a bit strange BUT completely enjoyable. I

Dear ExecMama: Thank you for your feedback for your stay last year. Though I am happy to see that you would recommend the hotel and you enjoyed our rooms and location, I am sorry that you felt that the rooms were strange. The URBN is, indeed, a unique boutique hotel that stands out for many reasons amongst your typical hotel and hotel room design. With is 100% recycled building and design materials, its sunken seating to set it apart from the sleeping area, we pride ourselves in offering a special and comfortable stay for our guests. Best, Claire

The URBN is a wonderful hotel. It's situated on a scenic, tree-lined street that is close to the action without being loud. The building is set back from street which gives it a secluded atmosphere. The architecture is stylish without being sterile. The staff was attentive,

We are also appreciative of the place in which we are lucky enough to work: the tree-lined street is, indeed, close to the action without being loud. We are in such close proximity to a plethora of restaurants and sites and yet we are able to work in such a quiet, peaceful place! I'm so happy that you found our staff to be attentive, our rooms clean and well-designed. We hope you will return to stay with us again in the future. Best, Claire

I stayed here for a 5 night stay in Shanghai and really enjoyed it. The rooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable. The design was very tasteful. I loved the old suitcase-wall behind reception. The staff were very helpful and spent time recommending restaurants for us.

The term "boutique" hotel is horribly over-used and abused, but URBN is the real deal. It is small with a huge amount of character. A lot of attention has been paid throughout the hotel and it doesn't feel at all corporate. We arrived early, tired after a long flight from

What transportation is from Pudong to URBN?
you can get the metro line 2 direct from Pudong airport to Jing'An Temple station. Then the URBN hotel is just 5 mins walk from there. It will take about 1hr and cost is very cheap : less than $1. You can buy tickets at a machine with English instructions. Of course you can get a taxi too, follow signs for Taxis at the airport and ignore any touts who approach you. Have the address in Chinese if possible (hotel can provide this ) , it will take about an hour and cost about $30.00.
