I had a very good stay at this hotel, the staff provided outstanding service. The location is great, Line 10 will get you to and from Hongqiao easily. The Bund and Yu Garden are within walking distance. Never had a problem getting a taxi. The food is very good.
This review is coming from an Ambassador member with lifetime platinum status. I had a terrible experience at Renaissance Yu Garden, I would strongly suggest to delist this hotel or close for a long time until it represents the Marriott standards. Check in: terrible experience with front desk manager. She was condescending and unbelievably rude. It was due to some passport complication and instead of de escalate the situation instead, at one point of time she threatened to register my family at police station. I almost canceled my reservation and Director of Rooms came to personally salvage the situation but unfortunately it was too late! That front manager immediately need to be pulled back to back office role. Rooms; I stayed at bund view suite (#1521) which happens to be higher end room. The room condition was disgusting , posted the pictures. Apparently they are renovating rooms above 17 floor but still it does not justify to book this room for your long time customer. I cannot imagine how the normal rooms are if this was higher end. Food: terrible, pastries at the breakfast couple days old, limited selection , nothing taste good Lounge: nothing special, food was sub par, ladies working at lounge were kind. Overall: Terrible experience , I would never stay here! I recommend Le Meridien at people square if you are looking for a similar category hotel around neighborhood! Every category above are much better! Grade : F…
Overall the service level was excellent and the facilities were good albeit probably needs some work. The pool and gym both were very good and well maintained. The hotels well placed near Yu Garden and a pleasant walk to the Bund. My 2 rating comes from the fact the place is going through a refurb and only one restaurant was open - no bar was open and only the basic restaurant. Rooms are a little dated and we did upgrade ourselves but couldn't see how they were any different from a standard room. We also asked for two rooms and twice asked for connecting rooms but sadly that came on deaf ears. So we had rooms about 10 rooms apart. I was also meeting a friend and we decided to have a drink in the restaurant. After being given a very extensive beer menu we were told they only had one beer available and there were only three cold ones. The other bad point was the breakfast which was really disappointing after I'd read about a good mix of western and Chinese options. I'm pretty sure that the low number of western tourists now, means the western breakfast is now not really provided. We saw the odd sausage and bacon on some days and some of the usual continental breakfast options but if you wanted a traditional cooked western brekkie this hotels NOT providing it. Now I'm also very open to Chinese breakfasts as well so don't get me wrong Ill eat other food types. In fact the congee and yum cha options got me quite excited but there again I was disappointed with Luke warm congee and dumplings that were pretty poor quality. The fried bread that comes with congee was also rubbery and poor tasting. Still after all this I may come back once the refurb has been done and if I start seeing quality breakfast improvements. Till then I'll look for other places to stay.…
This hotel has poor management on its parking spaces. Very limited number of spaces are available. Outsiders park illegally along the entrance leaving in house guests no availability at all. We decide to cancel the reservation but declined by their reservation team who think parking is no valuable part of the overall experience, despite parking spaces included as one of the amenities that the hotel is providing. Except for this, other experience, like the checkin and the lounge was great. I still rate it 1 star as a result of oral agreement with the reservation team as an exchange of not letting us cancel the reservation.
Fab location near Yu Gardens. Rooms are too warm and the aircon is not great. Good staff and service is very efficient. Great views of Shanghai city from bar at the top of the hotel. Very convienient for the Metro line 10.
Staid here several times on business. The hotel has a great location, just pass the road and you have the subway. A small walk and you are on the Bund. Try to either book for a Bund-view or try to get it when you check in, the evening view is priceless! Rooms are always clean and good size. Breakfast is really good for an European!
I've been going here for several years and it's a great hotel. Brilliant staff and good atmosphere. You can walk to The Bund or there's a Metro station just across the road. There's a pool and gym plus also a great bar on the top floor with some excellent views over Pudong.
It is an excellent hotel in a very convenient location with very clean rooms! We had an extremely pleasant stay as all the personnel was very polite and friendly to us. Especially the Manager Lefteris Pavlidis put an extra added value to our stay and with his exceptional politeness made us feel the hotel like home!! In addition with his charm-full presence and willingness to help gave us advices about the hot spots and must see attractions of the city of Shanghai!! Definitely we will visit this hotel again !!
Convenient hotel. Staff are friendly. Executive lounge staff are very helpful. Family had a lovely stay and our room was located on the same floor as the lounge. Recommended as it is near the Yu Garden Metro and right next to the Yu Garden. Walking (some) distance to The Bund.
I was with my cousins from the end of December to the beginning of January and everything was excellent, all the staff on floor 1, room service and the restaurant (Mr Lefteris) were very helpful. Thanks!
