Views of Bund are really nice, room decor is fine. Location is good if you want to be near, but not on Bund and travelling by car (highly recommend Uber). Healthy menu has some nice options. Vue Lounge is always a nice place to have a drink, especially outside on the rooftop deck if weather is not too cold.

Lovely hotel in perfect location. Only glitch was that the pool was closed the entire time I was staying (5 nights) and I had planned on swimming every morning before busy work days. I did not get any notice of the closure before I checked in, nor at check in. The manager did offer to get me transport to another... More

Hyatt on the bund is our private kitchen. Also a great place to host guests from outside of Shanghai. They got several signature restaurants. Their Italian restaurant got nice view. and Xindalu restaurant next to lobby has the best Beijing Duck in Shanghai. Not every room has super river view, but it would be a real experience if you can... More

Staff was amazing. We stayed in a suite overlooking the Bund. Views were incredible. Our room was spacious and the Bund Room was always welcoming each day. We were concerned with the amount of English their staff would be able to speak, but we were pleasantly surprised! Majority of the front desk staff and the concierge staff spoke very good... More

There's no doubt in my mind that this hotel has a great location, and the views are amazing of the bund and the opposing side of the river, but the service we received was not up to scratch at all. We had to ask for the bed to be changed and the bathroom cleaned, and in a 5 star hotel... More

Awesome hotel and location. Guest service was incredible... Great part was that they even had my credit card info from the last stay. So that I never even had to take my wallet out of my pocket. Only needed to have my passport and I was good to go...

Highly recommend this hotel. Good location, fantastic view, good service and great food options. I recommend asking for a room on the north east side of the hotel facing the bund. try the peking duck at xin da lu, the local breakfast options at aroma and a drink on the roof top at vue bar.

This is an ok hotel for the price. Booked river veiw room by paying extra but not worth it. Stayed in room 2308. Nothing extra special at this price. Would recommend staying at andaz of Hyatt in Shanghai any day. Nothing wrong but nothing special either. Breakfast is for locals. Very poor vegetarian representation. Nothing indian. Stayed at Marriott at... More

I am actually quite surprised to see many reviews praising the front desk - i had a very different experience. I stayed here for a weekend at the begging of Dec, the check in was indeed efficient, but I didn't feel welcomed at all - it just doesn't have the feeling of a hyatt hotel. Anyhow, as a diamond member,... More

Hands down, the best view in Shanghai. Most hotels along the Bund in Shanghai only offer one view; either a view of the historic Art Deco buildings of The Bund built in the 1930's, or a view of the new China facing Pudong and all the new skyscrapers. However, Hyatt on the Bund is uniquely positioned where you actually get... More

Staying in Hongkou

Neighborhood Profile
Hongkou
History oozes out of every fiber of the city, but Hongkou is a particularly notable neighborhood. Shanghai was a safe haven for about 20,000 Jews during the Second World War, and traces of this heritage can still be found in buildings and park monuments. Historic foreign relations aside, this neighborhood throws you into traditional Shanghainese life without taking you too far away from the city center. Some of the city’s best-preserved, ancient longtangs (laneway communities) and shikumen (Shanghainese lanehouses) are still in use as actual residences here. If you like to be surrounded by local faces, Hongkou is a great area to spend your time in. The football stadium, Duolun Lu and the North Bund area await should you need some entertainment.
