Location get 10/10. It is just 50 steps from Exit 1 of East Nanjing Road. Decent joints to eat & Shop. Road Side eateries opp. to the Hotel. Veggies can find Cool Healthy Stuff in them. Shanghai looks to be Tourist Friendly . Even Small joint here had Menu written in English. Hotel is Old , Big and for sure... More

I stayed at the Nanjing Hotel for six years running. I found the rooms clean, the bathrooms clean, the bed sheets clean, the room staff quick to attend to problems and they were always cheery and helpful. The reception staff could speak English and were always helpful. The restaurant was always busy and the are a string of restaurants across... More

Location is really cool! It takes only 3 minutes to get to nearest subway station, you also can go by foot to People's square or to the Bund. The room is small, but comfortable, however the bathroom is old and very dusty. The air conditioner is weak and there is no mini-bar in the room. I was afraid it's gonna... More

I arrived at this hotel in the early morning after an overnight flight from Phnom Penh.I had asked for an early check in. The extremely rude receptionist said NO.11 oclock. I asked for internet access this was refused until I checked in. When I returned to the hotel later to check in I was told that they did not have... More

Location is good. Their larger rooms are facing street side and there are restaurants immediately out the door, which means loud. Either ask for higher floor or not facing street, apparently they are the smaller rooms but when you want some quiet, that doesn't matter. AC barely worked. But worst was a rat or mouse was in our room. Found... More

This hotel is great value, 350 rmb for a twin room, private bath and small balcony, right next to Nanjing Road East metro station (line 2, hotel is just round corner from exit 1). Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable, has its own restaurant attached (didn't try it but was pretty full so looks popular) and road outside full of... More

We did not have a good experience in this hotel. The front desk staff were unfriendly and spoke little English. We asked their assistance to carry our luggage to the room but nobody did. Their wifi did not work in the rooms and even in the lobby. Smoking was allowed even inside the restaurant. I guess this explains the 2-star... More

Great location!! Room was clean . Bathroom needed updating, looked tired but obviously kept relatively clean. Breakfast was barely edible and coffee tasted like dish water!! Front of house staff looked like an unhappy bunch and were not very pleasant or friendly either( can understand 2 rating) . Location was the only plus for this place

Perfect location. There are so many shops nearby which includes small food shops and a dry food shop (7-eleven concept). Hotel is only few meters to the pedestrian road where you can find familiar garment brand outlets like Uniqlo etc.. Walk to the left from hotel and at the pedestrian road take left again, cross the road and walk some... More

Staying in People’s Square

Neighborhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
