I stayed there for one night in July 2016 - overall I wasn't very impressed. The room was quite dingy and stuffy and the staff weren't of much help. It is not expensive but you can find better value for money places elsewhere in Shanghai

The Only good thing about this hotel is its location right in the centre of Shanghai. However, there are many much better hotels in the same area. The front desk staff set the tone here: rude and almost hostile. The public areas of the hotel are grubby and the carpets in the corridors filthy. To be fair, my room was... More

Overall cleanliness, breakfast, room space and location is very good. Very near to nanjing east walking street. Not so busy. Parking available. Good for business travellers. Shopping centres are nearby.

I wouldn't stay there again. Although, the location was good, as it was very central, there were few issues of concern to me. The first room I was put in was probably the worst I've seen...and I have stayed in hostels. It had no window, it felt like I've been punished for coming to Shanghai. The room stank. There was... The hotel is near the pedestrian street and with a ten minute walk you are at the bund. The people ifrom het hotel are kind allthough not all of speak English. But they all will try to help you. One day mu ;lamp broke down and they came to fix it within 15 minutes. With the English it is sometimes... More

I have stayed at this hotel at least 20 times over the past 7-8 years. I have always been fairly positively impressed by their overall quality of service. This time it was very bad at least for the first half day. Room was not ready. I was told by reception, that cleaning is in progress. When I was at the... More

Although it has been a few months since I stayed in 'Charms Hotel' , I can easily recall how My stay in this hotel was.. Being very close to the iconic Nanjing Road pedestrian shopping precinct, the hotel is very well placed for shopping & of course walking along the famous route.. I have stayed a number of times in... This hotel is pretty gross. The management photos for this hotel are pretty misleading. While nothing bad happened, I never actually felt totally safe here. There are no safes provided in the rooms for your belongings. I needed to leave all my camera and computer equipment in the room overnight without me being there, so I left WITHOUT leaving the... The place at first sight doesn't look terrible just a bit old. But once you stay in the room for a while things change fast. At the beginning I just thought it was old and a bit rundown, I don't have so much trouble with that. The problem is that the room was infested with cockroaches, moths, and other little... More

Staying in People’s Square

Neighborhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
