The hotel is located in a good area but that's about all I can say good about this hotel. The beds are like sleeping on a board with flat pillows that hurt the neck. The electrical outlets don't work well & converters won't work at all. The hot water was hit or miss. And the AC will not cool off the room at all, no matter how low the thermostat is set. It does provide a hair dryer but what's provided is the ancient Elite model attached to the wall that doesn't work well. And try to eat out if you can as the food is not good. They do provide hand towels and free Wifi. These details were for multiple rooms so not a one room exception as our tour group all had these issues.

1block from French Concession...great place to stroll around...many convenience stores close by, even have Haagen Dazs! Breakfast Buffet not as bad as they say...you can always find something..they have fresh fried eggs as you enter, just grab a roll or two, some fresh fruit in the back next to cereal...that's enough for me...funny they have warming trays, but yes...everything is cold! So if you want something hot, besides the eggs go over to the Chinese side in front..that's hot! If you have a bad stomach, get the Congi...like grits but rice..just add salt or sweeten it up...always works for me...I always carry bouillon to add chicken flavor.. Yes, you can ask for a softer mattress! We stayed in 1404 by the elevator after moving from 1402, which was smelly and the lights kept

Stayed at the Shanghai Hotel whilst touring China. Location was good as was the hotel. Our room clean and tidy and spacious. Unfortunately all the food at the hotel came 'cold'. Our first night our tour party eat at the hotel and all the food came cold as did the breakfast the next morning.

Upon arrival, the lobby is very pretty. We decided however, that the hotel must be renovating floor by floor. The first room we were given was totally unacceptable - walls were filthy, chairs looked like they had been used as toilets - we didn't even open our suitcases or sit down - ICK! View was of the roof of the lower building. Even the hallway leading to our room had peeling, dirty walls and grimy carpet. However, front desk staff didn't even blink when we asked for a room change. We were put several floors up to an obviously remodeled floor. Very nice, comfortable, clean room with a lovely view of the city. Once we were in the new room, our stay was very pleasant.

our first experience of Chinese hotels and our room had a definite whiff of cigarettes, even though it was a non-smoking room, plus something else, less definable but not pleasant. However once the air-con was at the desired level and we'd got more-or-less settled in the smells became less apparent. It was also possible to open the window a small way, but this wasn't really a good idea because of a)the heat outside and b) the noise from constantly hooting drivers. Otherwise this is a perfectly acceptable hotel with the usual East-west buffet at breakfast and a very firm bed which, oddly enough, didn't cause much discomfort. There is a laundry service here which might be useful.

Generally ok. Like the location and hence had 2 extensions. But I had bad experiences with their service. Was locked out from my rooms during the evening for my 1st extension even though reception had processed my request. 2nd extension (back from other city), one of the assigned room was apparently used by their other customer (with welcome food & drink and welcome letter) and bedroom slipper laid out. When reconfirm with the reception, was assured it was a new room. The rooms condition was old as compared to my earlier stay.

Peak hours and too many traffic, especially those (electric cycles) motorcycles travelling at high speed very recklessly along those roads within the hotel surroundings, guests be extra careful when crossing roads, esp. in the evening under the dim traffic lightings.

This was the first hotel that we stayed at when we arrived in China. Shanghai was the first stop on our 16 day Gate 1 tour. The hotel lobby was large and lovely. The majority of the staff were non -English speaking, even so, they could always find a staff member to help you who spoke and understood English. Once in the lobby we were told that our luggage would be delivered to our rooms by staff. This was great because we were severely jet lagged after our 14.5 hour flight, and really did not want to drag our luggage through that huge lobby, on the elevator, and down the hall to our room. Our twin room was clean and comfortable, our luggage arrived within 30 minutes. Breakfast was included each morning and it was more than adequate. The choices consisted of both asian

This hotel is in a very good location, close to two food marts, many small restaurants, and has pretty easy access to the subway. The rooms are very clean, the staff is friendly and helpful. I stayed here four nights and really enjoyed it. It seems busy when you walk about, but it's really not that bad. Just leave the hotel and turn right, turn right at the first street, walk about a block to the raised crosswalk and you can walk to the subway that will give you access to anywhere in the city. It's about a 10 minute walk to the subway, and it's also a good location for shopping and hanging out with the locals.
