Stayed here twice a few days apart. Got a room on 28th floor which was good. Aircon worked well. Very annoyed to be charged RMB50 (USD8) for a lost room key that is a piece of plastic that costs virtually nothing. Breakfast was extremely expensive and while had a large range was not very good at all. Room was ok... More

I stayed here as part of a business trip. It took quite a while to get the hotel due to the volume of traffic in the area. Hotel staff were helpful on arrival. The room was a good size and was of a reasonable standard with some great night views. Bed was also comfortable. The bathroom was of a good... More

Note that this is an Asian chain so while nice be prepared for cultural differences, rooms are nice , breakfast is decient but not included in price. The gift shop is high priced but haggle a little they will work with you.

I was a bit worried when I first heard of the hotel name in Chinese. It sounded old and cheap. However, it's better than what I expected -- though it's an old hotel, it's well maintained I'd have to say. Spacious room and good view. However, there was some bad odor from the toilet pipe which annoyed me for the... More

I stayed at the Rainbow Hotel for 21 days during a business trip to Shanghai. The room overall was nice, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was of a decent size. Housekeeping did a good job with the room although you will not find anyone speaking English except at the front desk. Room service, while not cheap, brought food... More

stayed here for two nights for business. For the price it is what you get. While the lobby is big there seems to be many people who were not guests that were coming in and it was quite hectic. the rooms were spacious. nothing clean or special. just typical chinese hotel. you get what you have paid for

First of all, I had a cheap deal on this hotel, so for the price I got, I'm very happy with the room. The room was a bit old, but it was quite big and very clean, standard complimentary tea and coffee, safe, fridge and mini bar. They even had an electronic toilet, which was cool. Great view out of... You need to manage your expectations because it's not like the website portrays it to be. Rooms: Described as 'newly renovated' yet are in desperate need of another renovation. Good beds and clean. Smoking: If you are not a smoker, definitely ask for the non-smoking 'floor', not just a non-smoking 'room'. And then IF you are lucky, you will avoid... More

I got to stay for 4 days at the hotel recently. Very neat and well maintained ambience ,Courteous staff, prompt service all seemed exceptional. At restaurant in the first floor the hospitality extended by each of the staff had been exceptional. Anything that I asked for was served with a smile on face. Location of the hotel is quite good... Staying in Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang

Neighborhood Profile
Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang
West of Shanghai’s better-known business, cultural and entertainment centers, lies an expansive area of residential neighborhoods peppered with lifestyle pockets that have their own unique attractions. The schools have formed pockets of international communities throughout Gubei, Hongqiao and Minhang. Quite a few entertainment and shopping centers have built up over the years to cater to these communities. While living here means you are relatively far away from Shanghai’s usual hot spots, the large parks, spacious homes and proximity to great Japanese and Korean food keep the neighborhoods popular.
